Hi all, I took a very long break about a year and a half I think from Classic. I decided to come back yesterday. Well I downloaded the updates to the game and did a repair in the launcher and for some reason when I get into the game it is beyond playable, the lag is very bad and I noticed that my server(heartseeker) isn’t as populated as when I left. Now before I left the game ran just fine, but now it’s just so bad that I can not barely move and everything I do takes forever for the server to communicate. I am running the game on an older pc from 2014 windows 8. I really am not good with computers as I should be. haha. but like I said when I played at launch it ran fine for a good while with no issues. This machine has a huge memory I do know that and I don’t run other things in the background but maybe some things are and I don’t see it???
Now I did check to see if it was my internet but it stays in green so I’m guessing its okay? I mean what is considered bad latency?
It’s truly frustrating as I just paid to come back and now I can’t play. I was itching to get back in the game, I miss it. Been playing console Skyrim and PC the sims. I just am bored and TBC was the best time for me in any game experience so when I seen that it was out for a while, I got excited.
Any help is very much appreciated. Also I wanted to ask about my server Heartseeker but I’m afraid too. lol
Oh wow, okay so one thing I did notice is that the addon questie was constantly in my chat box, but I was assuming it was just constantly updating due to the lag. should I just disable it?
Also, holy crap!!! Are you serious??? That is wild to come back and find this out! When I left the server was booming and I thought it was fairly balanced, well I know alli dominated but wow, what the heck happened? When you say most alli are on Benediction, is that a pvp server east coast? I guess I would like to know which server I should go to for pvp east coast if the game is getting down to the point where all these servers are bare thats very important to know which ones. Thank you so much.
Right, Questie uses a bit of memory normally. Should lag when building database on first launch after an update but that’s it. So definitely, make sure it is the current version (6.8.2)
Well yes, I mean, horde has been dead since before TBC launched in May. Looks like the last horde raids were March 2021.
After that, small one sided servers tend to die out completely. I did also hear, Heartseeker alliance was pretty agressive with the wpvp. Probably got bored with none left to find.
Yes. More than half of the entire alliance population on pvp servers is stacked on Benediction (23k) but the horde is dying off. 95/5 faction split
Next biggest is Grobbulus with 7k alliance. 62/38
Nowhere else is safe.
Okay so another thing I failed to mention is that I had to download the new curseforge in order to keep my same addons so I’m wondering if that in itself has something to do with it…I have questie and all adds updated so maybe its the actual template of curseforge?
I always hated my server for all the damn alliance though, because if I were doing a quest, these guys would show up and take my quest drops, etc. so I’m totally cool with zero alliance on a server, I 'm a loner anyways and I usually pvp only and just craft. I like the challenge and fun on a pvp server but being outnumbered does suck. But in TBC I healed in raids and had a blast and also I healed in arenas so which servers would you suggest if I can get the game going? You mentioned two major servers, do you think that these two servers will be the end of game? You said no where else is safe. Man , I am sad by this decline and its a given when an older nostalgia game comes out, I know. but I seen free transfers last month, did that make any impact? Again thanks for your insight.
Curseforge was bought out by Overwolf.
Long story short, use WowUp. io instead.
Wow. Well, they are probably on Benediction now
Ironforge. pro is the best view of the server populations we have.
What happened is everyone on smaller servers felt their realms were dying, were waiting to form groups, couldn’t recruit new raiders, got bullied off by the other faction, etc…so most people transfered to what have become megaservers. If you want busy, go here:
Alliance - Benediction
Horde - Faerlina
But if you want somewhat balanced instead, Grobbulus is about the last one left. Very nice community and good wpvp both sides, though only 40% horde could use a boost.
I said nowhere else is safe because they are slowly bleeding out people, either quitting or going to the top few servers. The free transfers basically sealed their fate, because all low pop realms got to move to the megaservers for free, further boosting them instead of maybe saving some at medium pop.
What is wow up .io? Is it similar to Eq2 maps? Just guessing. I did look up that iron forge and I did see the sad shape of the servers but needed confirmation. So back in the day they made pvp and eventually dungeons cross realm, so I wonder how inept the dev
s are at this point. I however do not think that is going on at all, It almost looks like the fail is due to people having to survive. that is another topic though. thank you for your help.
I just wanted to say that you aren’t wrong to feel this way. it does suck when you come back and your server is dead. Most servers had these personalites etc, and even if people group move the new server is not even remotely the same community-wise. So lots of people do understand.
It is good that you can free transfer though because some people resub and they find out that they have to pay another $25 to play or reroll, and that’s worse. It’s not uncommon to just not come back at that point. So you’re lucky there. Yes just choose one of those recommended servers and you’ll be ok.
Also, there is a lot of reasons as to why this happened, and it’s been discussed on these forums if you really feel like browsing at some point.
