I’m curious what sort of advice the Hunter forums could offer when it comes to playing a Survival Hunter. I find the game-play really exciting compared to other classes and specs regardless of number tuning issues.
Any tips?

This is the wrong place to post unless you want the same 5 dudes coming in here attempting to tear survival and people that enjoy it apart. lol But I’ll be happy to offer anything I know what are your questions?
Aside from simply avoiding “stay out of fire” positional mechanics, what are ways in which a Survival hunter… increases its survivability?
We can make great use out of disengage/harpoon. If a boss does a mechanic that requires us to get out of melee we have Aspect of the hawk that we can turn on to keep momentum.
We have access to a single target stun, an interrupt, an aoe root, slows, and a CC that’s not limited to creature type.
If needed we have a decently strong self heal along with passive healing and a damage immunity that lets us reposition ourselves.
If you get yourself comfortable holding right click to look around you can take advantage of that buy jumping, rotating your camera 180 degrees, left clicking, and hitting disengage. It takes a lot of practice but once you get it into muscle memory you can use disengage as a gap closer or to save yourself from dangerous knock back mechanics.
To add on to what Brigadester said, you can and should be using a tenacity pet in group content unless you’re needed to lust. Tenacity pets increase your HP by 5% (Endurance Training) and you get access to a cooldown that reduces incoming damage by 20% (Survival of the Fittest) for 6 seconds.
Ferocity pets give access to a passive leech increase, but 10% leech isn’t going to be a whole lot and a Ferocity pet should be used for soloing or lusting in group content.
Someone made a similar post that help:
That would be true for BM-Hunters, but as SV your best option in group content would also be Ferocity. You dont have access to spirit beasts as SV and a whole lot more of your damage comes from yourself, which makes the leech a lot more valuable.
Scalehides would be best pet for pve conditions, they have leach and scale shield for damage reduction.
