Looking for info regarding blocked users and in-game mail

[retail]
i have a user that i have on ignore, so i can’t see whispers or anything, which is fine. however, it seems they can still send me in game mail. i can’t see the in game mail, but it still gets sent, i still see that i have mail, etc. if i unignore and reload, i can see it and thus report it (and i have been). but i’m not sure if this is intended behavior or not.

i was told to report this here, i hope i came to the right place.

Id open a ongoing harrassment ticket as long as ur not responding to them blizzard can help.

Ignore will not block email to my knowledge, just keep you from seeing it. It would block a transfer if you had mail still pending. If they are rule breaking, in as far as spam, language violations these should be reported. If it is related to harassment, then keep them on ignore and open a ongoing harassment ticket.

Sadly having people on ignore does not stop them from spamming your mail essentially locking you out of your mail box because you cannot access the mail of the person you have on ignore. Ive had this happen to me back in 2020, and had to ticket it to get a resolution.

Its weird that this hasnt been resolved years later. People you have on ignore shouldnt be able to mail you anything in game or contact you using any kind of blizzard service period.

The point of the ignore is for the user to decide on what they don’t want to see, not for them to decide on what others should not see.

correct, and as the user using ignore, i have decided i don’t want whispers, mail, group invites, nothing. but i can still get mail from the ignored party anyway. this is strange, i really thought it might be a bug.

Same advice unfortunately. Post in the General forums to suggest that they change how the in-game ignore works with regards to mail. Or you can use the in-game Suggestion feature.

The CS forums are not visited by the Development team for in-game feedback.

While true, the issue is that the mail is not used for just empty text you don’t want to see. Malicious people can COD you to death and fill your mail box, despite being on the ignore list. Ignored game mails also count for char services and often the person does not even see it or know to check ignore list. Makes extra work for GMs to help sort the purchase issue and either explain it, or clear it.

That is honestly something that DOES need to be fixed. Ignore should not stop someone else from talking in chat of course, but it should stop people from being able to directly put things in your personal mail.

There should be a report button on each mail you get, while it would certainly be a bit annoying and boring, I would report every single mail you get. Honestly unless someone is makes a completely new fake account to do this, it seems a rather poor idea, as it creates a relatively large trail that documents the harassment.

He cant even see the mail in his box because he has the person on ignore. It essentially locks you out of retrieving any other mail that came before it if it “fills” the mailbox.

Hmm forgot/missed that, agree that is problematic, wonder if an add-on or weakaura could do something with it, since if its actually getting pushed him, I would think the UI would be aware of it perhaps? Also even if it could do something, thats at best a short term solution until hopefully Bliz puts some sort of restriction in.
