don’t tell me they can’t, they can. i have someone on ignore for regularly harassing me. imagine my surprise when they were able to still mail me. three times now. i can’t see it or open it, i have to either unignore, report, reignore, or just let the mail sit there.
why is this allowed? is this a bug, should i be in bug reports?
I’d move this to the Customer Support Forum and see what info they can give you concerning this.
The ignore system does not block in-game mail. This is by design, as Blizzard intended mail to function separately from the chat and interaction blocking features. The idea was that mail could still be used for necessary transactions, like returning items, completing trades, or other formal exchanges, even if communication channels were blocked.
This is incorrect.
While ignored, the player cannot whisper you, send mails, initiate duels, or send group invitations.

Blizzard’s system says ignore stops mail, but in practice it simply hides the mail, blocking access but not preventing the message from being sent. This discrepancy is a clear mismatch between the documentation and actual behavior.
That’s technically ‘working as intended’. It’s always worked that way…but I wish it didn’t.
The in-game mail is simply hidden instead of blocking the player’s account unfortunately.

which is pointless because the entire point of ignoring someone is you DONT want to interact with them, which should include mail because again, you dont want to interact with them, which would also mean you wouldnt trade with them or anything else either.
I did. one was full of caps lock expletives, too.

How would they help exactly? This is just a function of the game as Blizzard put it in place. Just another example of poorly thought out ideas that have been in the game forever and not fixed.
Account wide ignore that covers the forums as well is what we need and mail should be blocked as well. You don’t want to interact with those people. They need to clean it up, but Blizzard has cut their support and services side like made, especially for customer facing interactions and it is just getting worse.
Harassment is NOT ok. Its also against the TOS and Social Contract. If someone truly is Harassing the OP then Blizzard can look into that and take action on their account. Hence moving this to CS where Blizzard CS can read the OP and see how much water it holds
Leaving it in GD will accomplish nothing. OP might as well write this down and burn it. Both doing that and posting here will have the same outcome
You didnt need to make a new thread. You could have moved this one. Nevertheless Harassment is not ok. The person harassing you is Violating both the TOS and the Social Contract. Its 100% reportable. You should also report this in game with a ticket. I hope you get a satisfying resolution OP
He wasn’t asking for direct help with this harassment he was asking for wether this was a thing or not. You are conflating two things here. I don’t think he is here asking for help with the harrasment he is asking wether this is a thing in the game or not. CS would just say yes and report him. That’s it.
You are better off putting it here and sayin “we really need this fixed” don’t get me wrong I doubt it will happen because BLizzard is really bad at this side of the game, but CS isn’t gonna help directly on this issue.
Anyway two different things if you ask me. If you don’t think people should put up posts on things in the game that have issues and should instead put it in CS…well I don’t think you have tried to go to CS with issues on the game before. They don’t do anything about that kind of thing
yeah, i was basically told to open a ticket if, after reporting him a few times it continued. thanks to you and everyone else who has understood and helped! huge oversight on blizz’s part.
That sucks. People are crazy, hope it didn’t get under your skin to much…I know for me that stuff can hang in there.
Blizzard has a long list of things like this they have missed, from not having account wide ignores in some places to things like not dealing with BGs being destroyed by q syncers. It ends up feeling like a lack of caring for their customers. It sucks.
