Long Topic

To toss in 2 cents to the entire conversation regarding flying:

I’m a fan of flying. I love flying in general, in old zones, and unlocking it to use in current zones.

The caveats:

  • I don’t mind doing Pathfinder for new/current content; I do rather enjoy the process of traveling around the world and experiencing it
  • On top of that, there are times where I’ll travel by ground-mount in old-world content depending on what I’m doing or what my mood is (sometimes I just wanna take in the scenery)

So, I can totally respect that some folks aren’t into flying, and I can respect the idea of wanting an option to avoid it. However, to be honest, it’s nothing I’d ever be interested in.

(And to make sure it’s clear, if flying ever disappeared from the game permanently then I would too, lol)

Sometimes being on the ground is more efficient. Especially when you’re doing quests that involve ground drops, trying to mine, herb or the like. Because the map doesn’t always update and show the node quickly enough. It tends to update the map faster when you’re on the ground.

There are tons of cases where ground mounts are more efficient.

But getting around and bypassing BS terrain that feels like it was designed not to make the world feel alive but rather to slow us down … flying all the way!

There is a lot of BS. like how far apart WQ are. and Elwynn forest, is a minute and a half across at top flight speed, this was okay before i guess but they have stripped out all the quests that were there originally so it’s just a big empty area.

if it’s a minute and a half at top flight speed, I can’t imagine how long it takes to run across on the ground. I’m not doing it because i just don’t fancy being that bored.

see, whilst i am asking for a way for there to be no flying for some people, I also want Blizz to make it more attractive to be grounded too. so more of us might enjoy being on the ground a bit more. more varied travel options is a must IMO.

A faster ground mount ability is definitely something I would call for.

of course that’s not as necessary in newer zones because they are generally smaller and have better travel options. The main problem in newer zones is WQ being so far apart for no good reason.

Calling people names isn’t going to help your side of the debate.

Actually, that is the whole point of playing a game: Doing what you want because it’s fun. If it isn’t fun, then why do it?

You can ALWAYS remain on your ground mount, but while you do that, I’ll be flying by. Plus, I believe, Silvermoon is the only city that doesn’t allow flying. AND no, I don’t want to be separated from other players due to them using a ground mount where I use a flying.

Flying has literally been in the game for 13 years and you have the option right now to play the original game, the ONLY version to ever exist where Azeroth did not have flying. Stop your complaining.

OP things are fun, they are also bad for the game.

Not sure the issue here. Don’t like to fly, then don’t…Classic is that way>>>>>> Enjoy! Problem solved, see how easy that was.

There is absolutely nothing hard about navigating through the world unless it’s quite literally your first time playing the game.

For me flying took some of the fun out of the game.

Pre-BFA flying I’d go on mini assaults with some friends to attack Zuldazar and we frequently would be chased to the nearest mountains and have to use our abilities (lock gates, DH leap, etc) to try and out maneuver the ever increasing number of horde players we had peeved off.

We normally lasted 30 minutes to an hour till finally the horde managed to outnumber us by a lot.

This was a fun time and it could only exist in a no flight world.

You can’t have an epic chase up a mountain if your pursuers can just break combat, mount, then drop on you.

These long drawn out battles where you’re desperately running up and down mountains doesn’t happen anymore.

Now it’s just cruise, target sited, descend, kill, mount, repeat.

There aren’t large numbers of people playing now. That’s what you’re seeing.

There’s plenty of people to kill.

Hunted and killed 75 people yesterday during last minute conquest capping.

I just mount, target, kill, repeat.

It’s still fun, but no real interaction with the environment like pre-flying.

Yes. There’s people to kill. The raid groups are gone, people are taking a break or leveling off somewhere.

Somehow making the game less fun for everyone else to feed your playstyle doesn’t seem to me to be something the devs should be doing.

Most pvp complaints about flying are by people who want the game to force other people to pvp more.

Well yes, if you turn on warmode you want to pvp.

Unless you’re lame and only want the buffs with none of the pvp.

Also raid groups cause lag. Plus I’m kind of OP I think 5 to 6 regular players per me is equivalent.

I think 30 to 40 horde vs my party of 5 was sufficiently even odds.

There is no requirement for a player to act like a psycho when they turn on warmode. The fact is that a lot of players are happier and more productive not having to deal with you. I’d say that’s a plus for the game overall.

Ok George, I guess you might have been rofl stomped by Alliance a few times.

They designed warmode the way they did intentionally. Other players do not need to play with you, nor should they be forced to.

Working as intended.

Yes…George did you fall on your head or smoke something bad?

No, but clearly you did.
