Long downtime for today

I do have a legitimate question. Are we going to be credited for a day’s service for the extended downtime today? I remember way back when that this was the case for extremely long down times. East coast users will most likely not even be able to play today at all, so this is a valid concern.

Technically no, downtime is factored into your monthly subscription. Hopefully it will be up soon.

Customer Support doesn’t really have much insight there, as it isn’t under our purview. However, maintenance periods and other unexpected downtime is factored into the subscription/game time price.

While the additional downtime is unfortunate, such compensation usually isn’t considered unless it is extended a good deal longer than this.

I only recall credit being given in the past after 4-5 days of downtime.

I’m pretty sure we’ve done it when it approached 24 hours, but it’s been a very long time since something like that happened.

i remember a time back in like BC or wrath current launch where the game was down for like a week and people were granted like 3 days game credit as a result

No estimated time for it to be back up then eh?

The blues don’t give ETAs, as most folks forget what the E stands for. More so when things could happen in between then and now to make the time table change.

According to the launcher as of 5:45 EST - it’s saying until 5:00 PST (or 8:00pm EST). This is subject to change, of course.

One day of extended maintenance like this in months… Back In The Day™, this was every Tuesday. Sometimes multiple days in a week - especially with patches and expansions.

that’s some lore right there

Because their employees are asleep at that time?

Because they work from the PDT time zone. No matter what time they did the maintenance, it would inconvenience people.

This is how it’s been done since the game’s inception. There is no reason to change what is the norm.

They’re often doing the same time for downtime is because they did their homework and seen that this is the least amount of players online in the given week.

because There’s other time zones in the world, USA isnt the only ones who play this game

lol I feel like its always long, on top of being every single tuesday for whatever reason, all day. Why? That’s a lot of time collectively in one month.
