And you are forgetting you are comparing a BM focused hunter to a lone wolf hunter.
We are not discussing what would be the 100% best spec here.
To fairly judge lone wolf you have to compare it to a MM or SV spec hunter using lone wolf, vs not using lone wolf. So none of those multipliers apply to a MM or SV hunter chosing lone wolf or not.
BM spec focused hunter will never chose lone wolf. So comparing it vs that is nonlogical.
here is my current “the rake” at level 25:
my talent tree is:
5/5 endurance training
3/3 thick hide and 2/2 imroved revive pet (needed badly since i have to rez my pet alot)
5/5 unleashed fury
1/5 ferocity
here is my “rake” at level 25 - full happy (125% bonus being happy) also has the boon of the blackfathom buff on:
str 58
agi 49
sta 136
int 31
spirit 42
attack 125
power 189 (melee power says 13.5dps)
damage 49 - 58
defense 125
armor 1958 (says 43.7% damage reduction vs a level 25)
claw 4 /bite 4 (special attacks)
resists all 30 except for nature which is 34
vs level 21 bear (this is 4 levels below pet)- here is the damage output of my “insane pet damage”
low hit 29 high hit 46 (normal hits)
crit has high as 88
claw hit 62 crit for 132
vs a level 25 elder bear - (even pet level)
bites - min 95 max 103 no crit bite
claw - 59 max 68 with 2 crits 127 and 128
normal attack - 33 to 38 with crits at 68 to 74
added - vs level 26 elder bear (+1 over pet level)
normal hits 34 to 38 crit 66 to 76 (6 miss attacks)
claw 50 to 68 (was parried 3 times) no crits
bite 96 to 98 no crits
I gave arguments about how insignificant this rune is, that’s all. It doesn’t matter what talents you use for Lone wolf. She is insignificant in any way. BM and the BM rune will only become much stronger. If we talk about PvP, the pets will one-shot anyone and they cant to be controlled (poly root or sleep)
Look at what level lightning breath rank 4 becomes available on petopia.
Pets dont get much stronger at 40 in pvp because every other class starts getting the majority of their tools as well. Including ways to evaporate the hunter before the pets dps even matters.
Tuning isn’t very good right now between certain rune slots. You would also never want to pick Chimera Shot or Explosive Shot over Beast Mastery on gloves anymore for any reason really, as they’re massively less DPS and utility while costing 0 mana.
Weekly changes go a long way to fix these imbalances but since it’s the holidays the changes have slowed down. Was good to see the early changes to under performing runes though.
you know pets got stat scaling based on ranged AP too right? Without the BM rune. No one has had a chance to test how it’s going to end up at 60 if they will take too much dmg to be useful in raids or not.
Chimera is actually more dps for a non bm hunter, until oom. But even that is just barely more and relies on short fights. (And having a good range weapon)
And what information will petopia give us? It says damage 59( Now it does 36 damage, right? It’s a pity not, because my pet does 180 damage with a non-critical hit and 320 with a crit), do you think the pet will have that kind of damage? ahahaha. When he gets 100% more energy regeneration and +50% damage, you won’t even have time to target him and you’ll die. Who will one-shot the hunters there? This is the fattest class after the shaman tank now. In green gear I have 1800hp, in encore gear I have 2100hp only with my buffs. And there will also be chain mail.
You shouldn’t talk about pvp when you don’t understand anything about it.
I would like this. Damage reduction and crit to make up got a lack of a pet seems fair to me and balances it out more without causing one shots on AS crits like some people would like.
Pretty sure Blizzard wants this to be a niche rune best used when in situations where using a pet is not as viable rather than something you always run.
Base damage is about 40 as the tooltip was never entirely accurate.
Scaling adds about 60-75 damage, gear depending. But lets go high end for this example 115 damage. Now we add the bm multipleir of 20%. That puts us at 138. Now we add the rune multiplier (because this is how it seems to be working, not a 50% total, but multiply, new total, then rune multiple) thats 179.4 damage. Now an orc would at this point get his 5% bonus.
This amount can vary more based on buffs on the hunter and pet a bit, but its a generalized example.
Edit: this ability also seems to get 100% crit as a physical attack instead of the 50% for spells, but thats how it worked in classic as well so…)
I understand a lot about pvp. Including that you will have double to tripple the hp pool at 40, resistance abilities and talents become available, other defensive and offensive abilities, etc.
You act like ONLY hunters gain from becoming lvl 40 and all other classes stay the same.
As the most obvious example warriors get shield wall at 28. And i can almost garentee they will have a rune to reduce its CD. Warriors already had a lot of damage scaling got mostly damage focus runes this phase, so next phase it stands to reason some runes will be dedicated to utility/cdr options.
I’m comparing my two main classes: paladin and hunter. The Paladin is currently losing 1v1 against a Hunter pet, he will gain Plate Armor and Repetance at level 40. The pet will receive 100% concentration recovery, +50% damage, +30% attack speed, + immune to control. If everything stays the way it is now, nothing will stop him.
If you understand pvp, tell me SPECIFICALLY what, for example, a paladin can do against a thunder snake at 40 or other classes. I’ll just take control of her for 2 minutes and stand in booty bay killing people near the STV tents
I already did this in Ashenvale, standing in the city and killing orcs near their base
