If the transaction requires another player and it’s not purchased directly from blizzard it is not paid to win
Achievements and mounts werent included in the advantage part. Ilvl is.
Seasons last almost a year. Last season, my season 1 duelist gear was a permanent advantage until halfway through the season when honor gear was allowed to catch up to it, at which point we’d all replaced the previous season’s 226/233s
Last time you pvped i bet conquest had 1 ilvl and you were able to buy the previous season’s conquest gear. That hasnt been the case in shadowlands until last week
If you are fishing for a reply of “they bought tokens for the gold” then absolutely. In my opinion, it is still not “pay to win” because you did not buy a boost from the store, you bought a token for gold.
Like I said above, what you do with the gold is up to you.
theyre using gold made by doing boosts. boosting people that probably bought tokens XD
24 people. skilled players who play the game alot.
making 4 million per member in game they should know how to do.
Many most likely had the 4 million from wod/legion gold lol…
Can somebody direct me to where I can purchase my tier set bonuses for $? /S
Which isn’t permanent. It’s a year.
Anyways, buying a boost gets you a rating, I have no idea what rating, but what does someone that sucks so bad they can’t do it on their own going to do with that rating?
I’m still failing to see what someone is “winning.” Gear is going to be replaced, their rating will be reset, their massive amounts of gold didn’t buy them skill, so they’re purchasing cosmetics? Cosmetics wins… Trial of Style?
They get to take rating away from other players
Here’s a very real example
DPS tries arena, feels they can’t get into groups because they don’t have high ilvl
They buy a 2100 2v2 boost
They get full 259 ilvl
They look into getting into 3s. They steamroll the first couple of brackets because their class is absolutely faceroll on top of having exponential power increase from their gear advantage, because getting rating locked gear in one bracket lets you have that rating locked gear in lower brackets in different game modes
They hit a wall around 2000-2100 because their gear stops carrying them against lower geared people who don’t straight up die to obscene pressure
They end up buying 2400 for a few mil
I agree that boosts in pve don’t matter because nothing is lost for other players if you parse high on a prog boss. The players you outdpsed with your gear from a tier higher don’t get sent back to the previous boss and have to reclear it again
But being able to buy a full set of 259 conquest gear you normally wouldn’t be able to get to faceroll people in 233 conquest gear is
buying a carry in a pvp game mode is so cringe
specially if your name is not even on the ladder
i mean transmog/mount collectors , i can understand but otherwise …
And I add on with this.
If said majority usage is for boosts. Then it is a boosting enabler. No different than the earliest discussions about crypto being used only for drug/illegal activities. You nix the ability have/trade/make crypto then you disable vector (but not eliminate) the ability to do illicit affairs.
The same can be extended to the token, although sans the obvious IRL rule breaking. But the “breaking” in this case is the typically assumed tabula rasa play atmosphere most people would (or used to) find in games.
It’s having more stuff than others and particularly more fomo. That’s the win condition in the broadest of sense.
No that sounds like redefining the meaning of “win” to fit this narrative of “tokens are bad.”
If they are World First Raiders and most of them have the previous max Mythic gear, when would they need anyone to run THEm through anything?
That doesn’t make sense. They should be able to run that stuff themselves. They SHOULD already be better geared than everyone else.
You already said gear means nothing. With that sort of logic to others here you would sound just as absurd.
Liquid is also giving away irl items. They should be banned for RMT.
Rmt is not items
but those items were bought with MONEY. - them probably
If gear means nothing then what are you winning when you get it? That logic right there is what’s absurd.
For this game to be p2w then I would have to buy better gear than what I could get in game for free directly from Blizzard.
If I’m giving gold to Joe Bob to let me have a raid slot to loot a mount, then I’m paying Joe Bob to “win” (win what I have no idea because mounts don’t win anything but whatevs) and not Blizzard.
RMT is anything not in game gold. Actually against twitch ToS as well. I’ll make sure to report them there too.
You gain a better means as to enable success to garner fomo.
But a more astute boostee would bypass getting gear altogether and just go straight for the fomo. Clear example being the boostee for the final boss in a raid. Do you think they are there for the gear? No they want the mount/title. A bigger payer would give gold to have the full mythic carry so as to get all the achievements done with a date that doesn’t look like it was done solo 2-3 years later.
