Locking stable flying but not skyriding to pathfinder is stupid

My guy… I get you want to throw bait… but holy heck… replying to someone 12 days ago?! That is the definition of desperate.

I hold no love for Blizzard, as I was one of those arguing for a form of pathfinder back when the no-flight debacle happened. My idea forpathfinder was what it will be in TWW + relevant, for the expansion, content (Daily quests and rep you pretty much earned while levling up)

But the way you keep goin on and on and on about pathfinder (or as it was rightly called in Legion/BfA) makes it seem like you and your ilk are not just spiteful towards Blizzard, but those of us that were trying to get Blizzard to lighten up on requirements/time gate as well.

But at this point, would anyone really object to something like this:
DR: available for all at expansion start, no lock
Steady flight: available for all at expansion start, no lock
Pathfinder: complete the following achievements (list of story and exploration achievements) Reward=expansion themed mount/pet/title/combination of them

There is not more engagement for you are able to AFK and glide across an entire content.

That is why people forget to realize that making assumptions about TBC normal flying comes back to haunt them.

The common thought against TBC normal flying is that you could point to the sky box and cruise to your destination. Well, that can be done with DR as well.

That is all very true Mafic. I personally plan to vote with my wallet. My account is certainly a drop in the bucket but the fact is that what they’ve done with flight, and also forcing us to do yet another Pathfinder just to acquire the needed accommodations, sickens me (physically and emotionally). They have ruined my fun & love of the game.

There is. You know there is, and I know there is. There’s absolutely nothing to discuss here.

The thing you must understand with BlizZard is that they can not let go. Even with PVP vendors back for gear they still cling to RNG nature of gearing. But PVE and PVP player want deterministic gear back.

And this is why we must stay on guard because with TBC normal flying they are trying to modify behavior again. This time under the false pretense that they can convert people that prefer or need TBC flying to DR.

That belief that they have internalized that they can covert players and modify behavior reveals they do not play or understand their own game.

This is because players choose how to engage with the world based on what they want to accomplish. A narrow pathway for how to engage the world is not congruent with how players play.

Another example is the BFA PVP gearing system where every week you earned CP but it unlocked gearing in predetermined sequential manner.

Except this narrow, one size fits all pathway does not work as some classes need their armor first and don’t need weapons first. Or Dual wield melee need both weapons first. Or some players want off pieces first or main pieces first.

That is why gear vendors returned.

That is why TBC normal flying is popular and why the toggle switch is really unpopular. Players change and want to be flexible how they engage the game one week to the next based on how much time they have to play, or how many people they are playing with.

Uhh. Blizzard is the one with the actual facts and metrics and numbers about what percent of the playerbase uses Dragonriding vs Static Flight. So it’s always kind of funny when people like you claim to know what the playerbase does and wants more than they do.

Nope.

That is like saying Rogue is more engaging than a class with no energy and combo points. Emotionally and logically you know to be not true.

And if Rogue was very engaging because of energy and combo points it would be the most played class.

In fact Rogues are one of the LEAST played classes, because most new players to the class do not like waiting for energy or combo points to be able to engage.

It’s not, actually.

Sadly, it does not include those that quit over flgiht nor does it allow for those that use one or the other only due to all the annoying tings put in, like the 5 second cast time for some.

If I have metrics showing people participated in something, that’s nothing close to resembling metrics regarding players’ enjoyment of something. The two aren’t the same, and unfortunately, Blizzard really focuses on participation since, if people don’t participate, they really don’t get data from that.

But then they forget that participation data is inherently biased and won’t yield any other kind of data. And that’s why we have 10 expansions now, without consistency or adherence to a philosophy.

It’s almost like their data tells them to repeat the same mistakes over and over again, hoping things turn out differently one of these times.

‘if we do it again, maybe MORE people will participate in it.’

But, it wasn’t very fun.

‘Yeah, but you participated. So if we do the same thing, but bigger, grindier, and rewardier, metrics might be bigger.’

But… fun?

‘Yeah yeah yeah, we agree about the most recent iteration, it’s not as fun as the new one! We really learned from our design of that content, doubling/tripling down on adding game play for more participation opportunities.’

Hey, it wasn’t fun the first time, and honestly, somehow fun was subtracted in this iteration… wtf blizzard? Do we really have to do this nonsense?

‘You don’t HAVE to, but then our numbers won’t be as big!’

We get it. When do we get our participation trophies?

If you’re taking the bait… that might be a ‘you’ problem?

I mean. Same can be said about you.
Look at the massive walls you type each time and they mostly say the same thing.

I’m also waiting to be proven wrong about this.

Same 5 people. NO WAIT +1 has joined the battle. lol. Not a resounding turnout.

Sooo, if Dragonriding is like playing a Rogue, Static flying is like playing a class with no abilities?? lol

I mean, you can wait til after 2k posts, but I think it’s pretty apparent. And… if more people were interested in a good-faith discussion, rather than be contrarian for the sake of derailing it…

It’s apparent that the same 5 people are keeping the topic going.
And the second people stop replying. Silly blood elf over there starts tagging random people as life support.

1900 posts. 6 people have 100+ posts. Another 7 have ~40. Another 9 have ~20.

It’s not a ‘hot’ topic or even a popular one. The same people keep replying and arguing over and over and over.

People would be more open to good faith if they RECEIVED good faith to begin with. If you are going to blatantly lie to my face and gaslight me, why would I want to amicably debate?

Why would you want to debate to begin with? Usually an exercise in scoring points, rather than having a productive discussion. Typically, players use message board to discuss the various aspects of their favorite game. Most of the time, any discussion becomes immediately impossible due to:

  1. People arguing in bad faith.
  2. People who are far too worked up.
  3. Trolls.

I mean, I have given everyone here a fair shot at a discussion. More than once, even when it’s become obvious to me their contribution is the trolling hyperbole they are speaking against.

You really went through all that? Impressive. I’ll try to make the topic ‘spicier’ next time there’s something for me to contribute.

What do you mean? It literally shows who posted how many at the top of the post.
Took all of 5 seconds to count.

And debate back and forth about topics.
You can have amicable debates. I do it all the time here.
Topics like this however, people tend to be more volatile, so debates are really one sided arguments and the other posting info that gets ignored.

The thing is… You think you are doing that, but the second something contradicts what you say or believe , you start giving history lessons then it devolves into they must be trolling because you can’t be wrong.
You did it to me lol.

I used my steady flight mount. I had no problem keeping up and finishing the quests.

Flight is the art of throwing one’s self at the ground and missing. Which is why I was not a pilot, I don’t miss.

You left out the part about how subscriptions increased under Dragon Flight.
I wonder why.
