Hello,
If I am unsaved to ulduar and joined a guild to attempt algalon but it was unsuccessful should I be saved to the 10 man Ulduar? I thought if you didn’t get a kill you are not saved?
Thank you.
Hello,
If I am unsaved to ulduar and joined a guild to attempt algalon but it was unsuccessful should I be saved to the 10 man Ulduar? I thought if you didn’t get a kill you are not saved?
Thank you.
You save yourself when you join the raid and say “ok” to the number of bosses killed.
So yeah, you are saved.
Algalon is unique because you are only given an hour per week to kill him, so you’ll get saved whether you kill him or not.
I believe the same thing will happen in ToGC hard modes because of the 50 wipe limit you get in there per week.
I think there was an unintended interaction with lockouts in nax and OS.
If you joined an OS 2drake run, with 1/4 drakes down. You would get the prompt. And even if you clicked yes you weren’t saved before you killed either the boss or another drake
Considering you cannot reach him without killing 2 other bosses first, it’s impossible to enter a raid that failed to kill Algalon and not get saved.
Wrath uses the old lockout system not retails.
As such it’s not a personal loot lockout it’s a shared raid lockout.
Your thinking retails system that only looks if you killed a boss than locks you.
Wraths system locks you after 2 min inside the instance with a save created (any boss dead). It has nothing to do with you killing a boss or not. Thou killing a boss will also generate the save or update the lockout also. You are given a pop up to teliport out to not get locked when zoning in if you don’t hit it your locked. The lock will also update to further bosses killed after you leave the raid if anyone uses that id to kill more bosses without you unlike retails. Os is the only case as far as I know, that is different where the id dosent save you to it unless you killed a drake or main boss when on the zone.
It has nothing to do with it being alg or toc like mentioned above that’s just how the wrath system works.
You didn’t see the lockout warning when you entered the raid?
Under normal circumstances you should not get saved unless a boss is killed.
For Algalon however, the entire raid gets saved as soon as his door is opened. This is to prevent people from being able to attempt him for more than an hour per week.
We simply unlocked the door for another raid who didn’t have a key and was saved as soon as the lock was clicked.
Do people not realize that it does not matter wether you get locked by just algalon or not? The whole point here is that the person got locked because you cant even reach algalon without killing bosses in the first place.
You cannot get to Algalon without bosses being killed…
You can join a raid that has already got that far.
In wrath you don’t get saved until you kill a boss while you are there. This is different from vanilla and tbc which locks you as you enter after a set time. Unlocking the Algalon door saves you, rather than killing him.
My understanding is they joined a partially done Ulduar where the guild was up to Algalon but then they were saved after having attempted the one hour lockout.
Now they’re confused since they didn’t kill any bosses.
Yes you do lol if any boss in the raid is dead you get a pop up when you enter telling you that you will be locked to this instance.
The pop up tells you that IF a boss is killed you get saved.
That makes no sense. Why would you need a warning to tell you killing a boss in a raid will save you to it?
I’m going in my lock’s saved Ulduar 25 lockout on my unsaved DK right now to confirm, brb.
I literally just did it with my two accounts.
"You have entered an instance already in progress! If a boss is killed, you will be saved to Ulduar (10 Player)
14/14 bosses killed."
I hit accept and have been here for like 5 minutes and my guy isn’t saved.
Opening the Alg door however, counts as a boss kill for locking purposes, and saved the OP.
I also checked, and I stand corrected.
It can happen, they changed raid lockouts so much during wrath lol.
There are some weird interactions where you can get the accept to be saved but not get saved. I once used a cleared ZA to do the bag quest on a bunch of alts and none of them got saved despite the popup saving I’m getting saved.
Algalon would be the exception to this rule, you’d need to get saved to a lockout otherwise you could just attempt him multiple times a week.
Violet Hold h/h+ saves your heroic lockout when the first boss spawns.
You can’t even reach him unless you kill like 2 bosses.
So when you zoned into the raid it asked you if you wanted to be locked.
You chose yes
