Right now anyone can comment on the Classic forums, including people who no longer have a subscription. It’s one of the only places that people can comment without cost, anyone can come on and make a post. This is in contrast to the Retail forums where you need to have an active subscription to post.
This means that the trolls are much more prevalent in the Classic forums than anywhere else. Since it’s easier to post in the Classic forums (due to not needing a subscription) many more trolls come here than to other official WoW forums. I propose that the Classic forums, once Classic launches, change to the same model as the Retail forums in terms of who can post.
With both forums having the same posting requirements they should more equally share the amount of trolling posters and lessen the prevalence in one or another.

I had to reactivate my account due to the level 10 character requirement. Not sure what you’re talking about.

As of a few weeks ago I was unable to post in Retail but was able to post in Classic. At that time I did not have a subscription. Maybe things have changed in the last week or so but I doubt it.
There may also be other requirements to post that I’m not aware of.
You didn’t have to do that. You could of leveled a character to ten on a trial account.
Still the same. Once Classic is live you’ll need an active sub to begin or continue posting on here too.
You’re assuming this or is there official word on it?
I’ll go look but I’m pretty sure there was official word on it. I’ll post it in here if I can find it. Brb.
What would be the benefit in only letting warlock characters post?
Ummmm. Classic forums, since conception, have always been open?
I’m truly sorry the classic forums are not a BFA echo chamber.
Have you considered writing a blog?

The irony being that most of the trolls in the classic forum are retail players.

Nice! Thanks for looking it up, I hadn’t seen that.
I’m sure there’s a ton of those too. And I’m sure that Classic players with subscriptions will troll in the Retail forums. It’s very tough to control trolling and some of the trolls are pretty harmless and funny. On the other hand, if it results in toxicity that kind of posting should be reigned in as best possible.

Blizzard WANTS to hear from the unsubbed people who will only come back for Classic. Most refused to sub just to post on the forums. Rightly so. Blizz wants feedback from them, not retail players
Honestly, they really should have a forum designated for people who don’t have active subscriptions. The Classic forum has served as that without being officially designated as such. I’d prefer to have another forum created with that official designation.
Blizzard doesn’t want that.
Unless you scroll up and see that it’s probably going to be that way. General Discussion should always be behind a subscription, like it did when it was current and how it does with retail.
Some people are wondering why it was free up until then. Well, here’s the thing. Classic wasn’t out yet, and with it coming out, finally, it makes sense to weed out random people who want inputs but don’t want to bother supporting the game.
The purpose of making it open was to attract people and get their feedback. They’ve already said it will go to sub only around launch.
Blizz works on their schedule, not yours.
