We can agree on this. There’s a world (wPvP) of difference in random players duking it out at the Crossroads, or Southshore and Tarren Mill, versus instanced PvP. I did a fair bit of wPvP from vanilla on up through Wrath, until battlegrounds and arenas took over. I tried them; the fun factor just wasn’t there for me any more.
I got my butt handed to me outside the entrance to booty bay more than once when I AoE’d a target and accidently hit some Hordies that were in the near vicinity. I died, but it was still fun simply because of the spontaneity of the whole thing. Plus, there was little corpse camping. You fought, you won or died, and moved on to the next item on your agenda.
Well, unfortunately you’re correct. The current team running wow is no bueno, I am not saying they couldn’t be but right now
Maybe they should actually learn to take criticism and listen to feedback instead of thinking they’re above everyone else. They have a massive EGO collectively and you can see it in the interviews.
“You guys think you do, but you really don’t”… Says it all
BFA isn’t a dumpster fire. It’s a good expansion. Possibly the second-best, because I’m not sure we’re going to top Legion.
That isn’t to say I wouldn’t want some of the things that made Classic fun back. There’s certainly some stuff that was fun that’s been removed in the name of “quality of life.”
It’s actually not good enough to be a dumpster fire. Legion, mechanically, was every bit as horrid, but it had a slick coat of paint that covered it up if you weren’t looking to closely.
Starting in MoP, and getting worse every xpac since, WoW has devolved into a one raid game with less and less progression. It’s almost funny, most of the changes that caused that were in response to “raid or die”, and they ended up exacerbating that problem 1000%.
Interesting little story… I was dpsing as a non-shadow priest, and the druid healer kept telling me if I wanted to dps, I should spec dps.
Finally he stops healing and switches to moonkin (this was while leveling retail legion), and expects me to heal. He was doing 5 more dps than I had been.
But… we were in Maura, and the tank was engaging the slimes, so I had been tossing heals while dpsing, or we would have wiped.
I’m really hoping to see less of that mindset in classic.
These things were all very immersive before Sharding. Sharding made it so you never saw the same person again, practically turned everyone into NPCs.
And then cross-realm fixed one problem while destroying the importance of realm community and player reputation, and toxicity flourished in a way that Blizzard seemingly encouraged.
My favorite part of Classic was personal player reputation mattering, happening across famous players, seeing people showing off their epics by idling in Iron Forge, and making actual friends that I still have to this day (but whom have long since quit WoW).
You can’t make spontaneous friends on live/retail.
They didnt take the time to explain the warcraft orcs and their fate.
And they should have.
First movie shouldve been about the childhood of durotan, the corruption of nerzhul and guldan, the corruption of the rest of the orcs and the slaughter of the dreanei.
It shouldve shown the move from beeing shamans to becoming warlocks.
This movie wouldve made people invest into the story, thats what you need first.
But I guess Blizzards marketing team or some money guys that have no idea thought having demons, blue and green people wouldnt have been a good movie, cus no humans.
How about u start the movie with king menethil telling a story to his son arthas.
But no, they skipped all that and now nothing had meaning to those not familiar with the story.
