Little things that made Classic better

I miss getting a talent point every level.

Yeah levels correlating to something meaningful and not an arbitrary number was good.

Even making small decisions is making a decision and giving a sense of progression. I’ve been leveling guys and man…there is ZERO sense of progression throughout the entire process. And scaling only makes the problem worse. Nothing pulls me out of the immersion more than questing in Westfall at level 50 and a level 10 is killing mobs faster than me.

After seeing what Sylvanus could do, he was pressured by people like the Light Undead Calia Menethil to retake Lordaeron and depose Sylvanus in Before the Storm.

Hi, see you all at the Jungle
If Kurzen made that far, we all will too
Let the classic hunt begin at stranglethorn vale

Also let me just extend with some info here… yes we want portals why because vanilla is just one expansion. you want us to be with no portals on what 8 expansions now?

sure zeps and boats were nice when we only had TWO continents to move and only 3 main cities per faction.

But you removed the portals and made it harder to move between lets count

Vanilla,
Burning Crusade.
Wrath of the Lich King
Mist of Pandaria
Warlords of Draenor
Legion

Won’t count cata because that was basically vanilla with a few changes and those portals where untouched (for now). and BFA is current content.

So yeah Bornakk you really need to think before putting your foot in your mouth… Is easy to put ohh you dont want portals here…

Think a little what are the portals people are pissed about

All the portals with the exception of the old dalaran one where from expansions AFTER vanilla?

hell you wanna play that game sure Ill bit

Give us a zepelling area that takes us were the portals took us before you removed them?

there how about that?

I can taste your salty tears.

it is not tears more like insulting to see a CM act snarky completely missing the point. Instead of actually trying to defend their point (that so far from what it looks they cant) they have decided to either keep silent or try to be “smart” with a comment like this.

Seriously its downright insulting.

I would be salty if I still cared for the game as I used. The only reason I am still subbed is that I have 3 million gold and nothing to do with it.

And no you can not have my gold. I farmed it Is mine to do what I want with it.

Even if it means just be in the forums nowdays.

I’m not subbed to BFA, so…

Anyway, 3 million gold, huh? Takes about, what, ten minutes in BFA?

The name “Whimsydruid” checks out for what exactly? Sorry, I’m not simple-minded…

The cake is a lie!

It’s relative. In Classic, forming a group through discussion and then travelling to your destination (let’s say 30 mins for those together) was appropriate for a full dungeon run (probably 2 hours) or a raid (upwards from there).

On Live, you form a group through impersonal LFG and then port to a dungeon where you defeat it without speaking (15 to 45 mins). No one wants to spend more time getting to a dungeon than they do actually playing it.

If Blizz wants to build the environment back up, they need to do it through the community and not through arbitrary travelling burdens. For example, when LFG is forming a group, have people immediately be matched and grouped while they wait for that tank or healer or whatever… now they are able to communicate and plan accordingly. Also allow them to invite someone from their guild or friend list in general chat mid-queue to speed things up. Little things like this are what make the world alive, not waiting around forever for a zepplin.

You would also have to make LFG your server only AND make the dungeons something other than a faceroll AoE hallway.

This is the main area I think Blizzard drops the ball. Shortsightedness.

Adding a little convenience here and there feels like a great way to pull people in.
Making a few activities over-rewarding seems like a great way to get people engaged in the short term.
Other systems like flight seem like a great way to get people excited to explore for a little while.

Problem is, with convenience and rewards, you can NEVER turn back (remember when they tried to limit just water strider to MoP content?) and it is a death by 1,000 cuts. I feel like that proverbial frog in the water that is slowly increasing to boil. “This is okay” “this is okay” “this is okay”…“I’M BOILING!”

Looking forward to Classic. I still want to enjoy retail too though. Hope they have learned and really think about how short term decisions will play out years down the road before being shortsighted.

Your opinion on portals is valid. People like different things. I don’t think that a lighthearted joke is “downright insulting” though. It doesn’t mean nobody is listening to concerns (they’ve added one portal already). Just a joke. It isn’t like the portal issue is some real life global tragedy that jokes about are considered “too soon”

Dude, I couldn’t ever have that much gold if I spent a full month playing. What the hell is this about “ten minutes?”

The thing I liked most was it didn’t feel like a game it felt like a whole new world. You could do everything in the game like you could in real life except it was in the land of Elves and Dwarves. It was good vs evil. You could get sloshed in a bar with your friends take some for the road and go kill evil things(HORDE) and be rewarded for it. But it wasn’t easy just like life ain’t easy. You have to work for what you have and want every day………….BUT get to have a blast doing it!!!

It’s not costing me any more money to find out than having a sub to the version I don’t have any desire to play. So what if it does turn out to be short-lived for me? You get to say “I told you so”, and I won’t be playing either version.

He went full Leprechaun about his gold, so I tried to make a joke about BFA. Dude really wants his portals, too!

lmao So you watched that YouTube vid where Warwick Davis did the leprechaun voice for a fan too?
