It might not be fun to think about, but alot of this is overblown hype and fear mongering, Covid-19 isn’t some super virus, it preys on the weak and elderly, it’s natures method of culling the weakest members of the pack, should we wash our hands, and try not to infect others, or work on a vaccine? Yes we should but it’s nothing new or world ending, just another Illness that’ll soon enough struggle to maintain a foothold once we build a immune response for it.

Also, they found a cure in Australia. Too lazy to look up and link the article. They use a combination of anti-malarial and HIV drugs. Kills it in a test tube and has cured everyone treated so far.

They were using HIV meds and antivirals and even some anti-cancer drugs to fight it successfully in Thailand, Singapore, Japan and China since january. iirc they were using this on severe cases. It’s probably not a good idea to give those cocktails to people with mild cases. They are intense

So far the best case study comes from the Grand Princess Cruise ship. Everyone was tested and many did become infected and in all they had a 1.9% mortality rate. So yes this will kill about 2 people in 100.
The biggest issue however isn’t that it can kill you at a 2% rate. The biggest issue is they have no vaccine and it’s already spreading. Sick people can catch it again. People with health issues and the very old are at an even higher risk. This all while still dealing with flu, cancer, hypertension, heart disease and immune disorders. Pandemic is not tossed around lightly and the risks of panic and human response was calculated months ago…
You better prepare like it was a mythic raid and you got one healer…

My father is on immune-suppressant drugs due to a organ transplant, and is at an extremely high risk of dying if he catches this.
But tell me some more about how seriously I shouldn’t be taking it.

I always laugh at people taking it very seriously because of the death rate. It’s clear none of them have ever looked up Drunk Driving statistics.
I will start to actually worry and do more then the basics (wash hands, don’t touch face, stay away from the sick) once it reaches the level of Drunk Driving.
