Their Signature Attack is Bladestorm which Warriors have. They are a Warrior Hero.
“Being squishy” is not the best criteria for choosing which class could represent Blademaster.
None currently in wow really could, but a class that can’t stealth, can’t bladestorm and can’t use the iconic blademaster weapon is far from one of the ones that could be close.
The only thing you maybe get from Monk is the transmog pants and the blindfold
WoWpedia says that Blademasters are know as legendary WARRIORS of the Burning Blade Clan.
I don’t think there were any monks in the Burning Blade Clan.
While I’m excited for Sunfury, suggesting other options isn’t not automatically “wrong”, simply someone else’s opinion. Spellslinger could fit with any of the specs.
Someday when they do dual classes we can combine a rogue with a warrior to get a true Blademaster
Not gonna be any Monk in that mix though, just some kung-fu pants and neck beads
Sad DH noises.
Only 2 cmooooon.
I’m okay with Farseer, but Oracle works too. As for Totemic, it should be replaced with Primal.
I was arguing with someone on the Warrior forums who said that Blademaster doesn’t fit because they are an Orc class, but they wouldn’t acknowledge that Mountain Thanes are Dwarves, lmao.
All I want is to know what that Lightsmith tree looks like… That sounds friggin’ awesome.
Each one is meant to strike a point between two specs, rather than focus solely on one.
I’d bet on:
Lightsmith for Holy/Prot
Templar for Ret/Prot
Herald of the Sun for Ret/Holy
Regarding the Blademaster talk…
Consider that Gladiator stance changed up how you played in WoD and it makes sense as a cross between Protection and Arms.
Well take the Blademaster fantasy and you can grant them the Wind Walk ability when you pick Blademaster path, but it alters your tankyness to be a lot less.
Maybe your armor is permanently reduced by 50%
Maybe your charging/gap closer ability cooldowns are increased by 100%
Essentially, it changes some aspects of your core abilities because you are granted extra perks like Ty e ability to go stealth and move quickly and hit hard on opening etc.
Do you have a source on this?
Personally speaking:
Rider of the Apocalypse sounds not as cool as the other ones.
San’layn is a vampiric elf race, so I’m really interested in the Vampire aesthetic being applied to blood, but it also feels very elf specific. If you do go down the vampire route add vfx to make the eyes red instead of blue.
For Rogues I think the names are a little strange.
With how Rogues are to me in WoW they don’t feel like tricksters, nor do I really understand “Fatebound” as an aesthetic. I think Swashbuckler, Bard, Agent, Shade, Riftblade.
Lightsmith seems very like tinkerer/artificer as opposed to a Paladin imo. Unless they’re getting those Argus light mechs.
-Hunters: I have no idea why hunter got Sentinel, sentinel but undead, and the most generic title known to wow, given Pack Leader as a concept has been used so many different ways. I’d be fine with Sentinel and Dark Ranger staying if we also got Shadow Hunters given hunters already have been given things related to shadow hunters, such as a legendary back in Legion that was Vol’Jins shoulder armor.
-Paladins: Why isn’t Herald of the Sun just called…Sunwalker? The already existing Sun base paladin group that’s already been shafted several times starting in cata with the Uldum redesign.
-Lastly, if some of these are named a specific way to avoid the tether to existing in game cultures, then ALL of the Hero Trees need to be named like that, instead of there being over twice as many names that are tied to the alliance than ones tied to the horde.
Actually love the Spell breaker aspect.
I think blizzard needs to think of the fact Demon Hunters are not only masters of magic (The Illidan Novel) but the opposite should be the fel infusion
SO having one be Spellbreaker and the opposite being Demon Soul embracing that demon half more
Similar to how in Heroes of the Storm, Illidan picks either The Hunt or Metamorphosis.
they arent super specs, the specs are a mix of two specs into a heroic fantasy.
Lightsmith is probably Holy/Prot.
Herald of the sun is Ret/Holy
Templar is Prot/Ret

Replying to this to add my partners issues, as she currently has her sub lapsed and can’t reply herself:
“I personally really enjoy the reference to old iconic archetypes from older Warcraft content such as the Mountain Thane, and want more like it. What I find upsetting is how Tauren and Trolls in particular have had major and broadly recognizable Hero Talent options supplanted for more generic options, namely, the Herald of the Sun Paladin and Pack Leader Hunter.
Shadow Hunters are one of the most iconic hero archetypes in the setting, we lost Vol’Jin, one of the most powerful Shadow Hunters in Warcraft’s history, and we don’t even get to carry on his legacy through a Hero Talent tree?
And a more recent arrival, Cataclysm’s introductions of the Sunwalker Order was one that struck me as instantly iconic, paladins who call upon not the light, but An’she to bring their light to bear. Herald of the Sun feels like a compromise made for Tauren and Blood Elf paladins respectively, and with the disrespect given to Hunters already (Two Elven Originating Hero Trees), I think it’s a step too far to make.
Additionally, where is the Spiritwalker Shamans? Or Witch Doctor Shaman, or even Warlock if you want to be generous. Meanwhile all of Druid’s Hero Trees feel deeply tied to Alliance based (See: Night Elven) archetypes. I want more representation of the heroes of the horde in these choices.”
I second this. San’layn should be a priest hero class. I want bloodform, and mind flay to become the death knight’s blood drinker.
Well from what they shown with the Balance druid one. Im quite sure Voivweaver Disc priest could be very fun to play. Adding more shadow aspect to our healing
Please yes! I would love it if Shadow Hunter was the Hero Spec for Restoration/Elemental. Upgrade Searing Totem into a Serpent Ward. Buffs to Hex and Chain Heal. Getting Big Bad Voodoo as a spell. It 's the top of my wishlist as soon as Hero Specs were announced.
Ion said they want to know what would be exciting for us. This would be exciting for me. Shadow Hunter for shaman Hero Spec!
OK, going on the assumption that these are “halfway points” between the three extant specs … we’d have a Holy/Prot hybrid, a Holy/Ret hybrid, and a Ret/Prot hybrid.
Lightsmith – Could this be the return of the Shockadin? That was the OG Holy/Ret hybrid. It was fun, back in the day, could be fun again.
Herald of the Sun – Originally thought this would be a Holy/Prot (see below), but it’s better as Prot/Ret. Adds a damage boost for Prot, and a bit of tankiness for Ret, making a solid solo PvE set.
Templar – "The Templar knight is truly a fearless knight, and secure on every side, for his soul is protected by the armor of faith, just as his body is protected by the armor of steel. Thus doubly-armed, he need fear neither demons nor men. – St. Bernard of Clarivaux I take it back. This is the Holy/Prot hybrid. It brings extra healing for Prot, and extra tankiness for Holy, in either case making a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut of justice.
I kind of like all three names as-is. Lightsmith is a bit weak, and if someone had a better name I’d be all for it. The other two … work. But again, I’m open for suggestions.
Mage
- Conjurer
- Makes even more food then before
- Thats it.
