Easy fix. They do it on Final Fantasy.
You can choose which phase you want to go to.
Even if they dont get rid of realms like I was spouting while on a soap box, something like this would be great.

I never saw any of it personally in game but have seen plenty of videos and screen shots of stuff that I’m very glad to have been out of that scene during that time.
It sucks because the story was so good, and could have been so fun if that type of narrative didn’t attract such disgusting fans that emboldened them to the point of comfort they felt safe coming out with whatever gross view points they thought was okay
I actually enjoyed most of that as well. But I also wasn’t anyone who got thrown out of Orgrimmar ICly or was very affected personally by the Kor’kron RPers. There were a couple of incidents I remember, but overall I missed most of the mess.
The trial was amusing from where I was sitting - in the back with the deaders, heckling for the most part.
I did feel bad for the player who ran the trial. I think it got out of control with some of the drama. I’m certain it’s not how he meant it to be. But it’s hard to run server-wide or faction-wide events.
I think Orc RP has forever changed, to the point that outwardly villainous characters get a pretty serious side-eye, but I agree that Orc RP as a genre has mostly moved on.
And it’s not like I think Orc RPers should pay for it forever or anything. It was just a frustrating era being a Horde RPer because you got essentially driven out of your spaces whenever the mood struck a Kor’kron RPer and if you had any beef with it, you were told to calm down and it was just RP.
Remember that this was the era when saying Blood Elf men looked like Blood Elf women was considered cutting edge comedy. It wasn’t a fun time.
We move on and all, but boy, I don’t want to say that wasn’t a rotten time.
Don’t tell Moon Guard I said this, but I’m pretty sure I could take them in a freestyle rap battle.
I had no idea it was so bad with Korkron, but maybe because I was in SMC 24/7?
The few I did see, I hopped on my Blood Knight and told them they didnt have jurisdiction in Elfland
Yeah, there were a few enclaves amongst the Blood Elves, Forsaken and Tauren that managed to carve out spaces free of Kor’kron. Trolls were effed, though. And if you were a Blood Elf in Orgrimmar, you could take a shot for every homophobic slur you heard and be drunk in eight seconds.
Yeah, it got pretty bad.
Unfortunately, after the Kor’kron Trials, to escape the bad karma they’d created, a lot of the Bad Faith RPers faction-swapped to, of all things, Kaldorei and spent a few weeks rampaging around there before getting absolutely bodied, then they split up, with half going Humans and trying to do the Reformed Scarlet nonsense, and the rest splintering back into Orc, Forsaken and Dwarven communities with new characters to try and hide.
It was never about the race, it was about having a water-tight excuse to be a rancid bung-hole to random strangers on the internet, and nobody was having it.
I wasn’t there for it, but couldn’t you technically say that event stopped the same things from repeating on as big a scale with sylvanas loyalists in bfa? I vaguely remember people wanting to play into that with their forsaken, and the kor’kron trials would be brought up. Though, I know I was also primarily involved in neutral guilds and far from anything that was outright horde or sylvanas loyal by theme. So by nature I didn’t really see or interact too much with those types. Aside from that one cultural faire that had a play with haha burning tree joke or w/e.
When I did RP Horde alts in 5.3 and 5.4 I used to mainly do it in Razor Hill or Silvermoon, for lore reasons. I just assumed Mr Elf was no longer welcome in Org IC. I dunno if people dodged it in Razor Hill generally, but I never saw any of it. xD (I had a belf DK at the time, Eldinus. He was not my best character. Illidari champion with a nether dragon who got killed in the Frozen Throne. A bit of a Mary Sue tbh)
It really is such a shame that it was a clustertruck, because that was a really fun story.
Ah, the era of the cavalcade of Scarlet guilds. I was there, Gandalf. Same with the Stormwind Guard guilds. It was an era of high drama, then everyone grew up…and they proceeded to take that same drama into RL political arena.
I’m sure that was part of it. But I suspect it probably had more to do with the fact that no one was excited to do the exact same plot over, but with worse writing.
The longer BfA went, the worse it felt. It undid almost all of Saurfang’s good will.
I remember there was a Scarlet RPer everyone alliance sidereally disliked for godmodding or just being rude and horde rogues sneaking around Stormwind would constantly get hit jobs from Alliance Rpers to take him out.
Funnily enough that was the era that we sprung out of
BFA also really made a lot of the RPC go “hm. no.” I know I spent all of my BFA RP doing night club stuff and not talking about the story at all.
This was how I felt, yeah.
I also wondered if this was as widespread as it seemed, or just what I was seeing from my little neutral area of rp. The war aspect was really not that great in the story, and it had a very anti-climatic finish… with a highlight of being just in time for brewfest lmao.
I’m not sure why people are so opposed to this idea especially since it’s very likely inevitable that all RP servers, not just MG and WRA will be merged together to give the idea that the RP scene in this game is more lively than it seems. Not that blizzard has ever cared about it before considering their poor track record when it comes to dealing with in game harassment.
My thoughts are this and they always have been this way. Moon Guard has been very alliance centric and server lore heavy as far back as at least the mid 2010s(at least that’s when I played). And Wyrmrest has always been more guild focused and walk up friendly since the same time. Now there were always exceptions to these rules but I think there’s nothing wrong with saying that. It’s not a stereotype. These are just how the servers were and how the culture developed.
I just remember during Shadowlands how RP changed massively because of how unfriendly the lore was to get into for the average person who just wanted to RP a character. There was no way for someone to reasonably play a character that was in the Shadowlands, nor was there any interest at least from what I saw. And alot of RP was effectively killed during this time as well when it should have been thriving because of people being stuck inside because of THE UNSPECIFIED VIRUS OF UKNOWN ORIGIN. I mean jesus I logged into Silvermoon and there was like… nobody? I was like what the hell man? SMC was popping in 2016-2017.
I do believe the servers will be put into a sort of cross-realm. Although I can’t say what the consequences of that will be. Nobody does. I’m hoping the clashing cultures of the two different servers doesn’t set things off. Maybe people will be able to coexist. I dunno, just my thoughts. Sorry for rambling at the end.
Taishir is right.
We must strike first.
Just picked up my Dwarf Frost Mage on WRA. He is level 46 so far. I’ve been inspired to join the Alliance!
I pulled back most of my Alliance alts on MG to bring them back to WrA. I feel like there’s some potential to get more things going here
