Limit to buying future game time with tokens

Is there a limit to how much future game time can be bought with tokens? I had heard some time ago there was an 18 month limit. Haven’t attempted it yet, but may soon. I would like to know the limit in advance.

Our support article has some of the current limitations and restrictions for WOW tokens.

  • You may use the in-game Shop to purchase a maximum of 20 Tokens per week.
  • Your Blizzard account can only have one type of Token and:
    • a maximum of 20 Tokens purchased with money in your inventory at one time
    • a maximum of 10 Tokens purchased with gold in your inventory at one time

I’m afraid this did not answer my question. I’ll try and be a little more clear. I have $335.14 Blizzard Credit plus 9 WoW tokens in my bag on character ‘Ripzip’. In additional to this, I have enough gold to buy 40 months of game time.

Currently my subscription runs out in February. Was considering to buy a lot of game time in February. As I recall, there was a limit to how much future game time could be booked. Seemed like it was 18 months. That is my question. Is there a limit of 18 months of future game time I can have on my account?

I’m not aware of any such limit. Where were you seeing that information?

It has been over a year ago. I really can’t recall where I saw it, but I did see it in such a way that I believed it. It stuck with me as I had a lot of gold at the time.

If the answer is not readily at hand, it is ok. I’ll find out later should I head down that path.

I remember Blizz saying something about you could only buy like 3 years worth of game time in a 2 year time span when they first came out. I can’t find the source and this might have changed.

When the tokens first came out, there was a limit on how many could be acquired within a specific time frame. I recall folks having to wait a month to buy another one as they were at the limit.

They did subsequently modify the number per time frame but I don’t recall the details of the modification.

I can attest to the old “you can only buy 3 years worth of game time directly with WoW tokens (bought with gold) per 2 years of play” restriction. I don’t think it’s been in effect for quite a while, though, considering that you could now circumvent that restriction by converting the tokens to battle.net balance, then buy game time with said balance.

Looking at my transaction history, I have been continuously paying for game time with tokens since 11/23/2016. From what you say, it appears that I could only pay for 12 months of future game time with tokens since I have been paying with tokens over the last 24 months.

There is a limit of $350 Blizzard credit. That is why my Blizzard balance is at $335.14 as I cannot convert a token to Blizzard balance without exceeding the $350 limit by $0.14. However, when I buy game time or other digital products via Blizzard balance, I can convert more tokens to Blizzard balance as you say.

Thanks to all for clearing this up for me :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

PS: I noticed from time to time I have from paid for game time with Blizzard credit, and it shows up looking like I paid cash. Good!
