I’ve started Max Born’s Relativity two or three times but never managed to finish it.
Born writes in the blood of martyrs. For the price of an equal amount of blood, he makes himself clear.

Its my understanding that he had relatively nothing to do with the direction of the show after a certain point or the ending of season 8 and has maintained that the books would not or were never going to end that way.
Early on it was just because she was a girl.
The endings should be similar yet still different.
Like arya killing the night king was a purely got decision and not books.
But odds are that the main points were in place such as beating the dead and dany going mad queen.
Bran getting the throne i believe is accurate to an early grrm draft for his books so could still happen in them.
I doubt the books will go the same route with jon though as his story did fall a little flat.
Oh and cersei will almost certainly not die via brick
That’s not true. He gave them the ending.
He says that now that the series is over. That wasn’t always the song he was singing.
The two D’s had one interview that went sideways in which they stated that once they were out of material from the first 5 book that they were struggling and it showed. The direction of the show did go in direction that George did not agree with. You are right that a lot of it could be revisionist history. We really wont ever know the truth but for me the product speaks for itself. For the material that was filmed that had concrete books behind it, it was well done. The rest that they tried to “wing” was a mess. Whether GRRM was behind it or not I guess doesnt really matter at this point, I think if the books ever come out they will be quality and make some more sense than GOT did.
Well it matters in this thread since it’s about authors we don’t like and that’s one of my reasons.
This pretty much sums it up. There are people out there who dislike pretty much everything, it’s kind of a twisted badge of honor for them.
EDIT: I think the fact the D and D have basically fallen off the map and George is still doing his thing says something to which way the majority of blame lies.
BUT ,I hear ya. I guess I will say I like GRRM for the years of GREAT stuff he has done, and I am annoyed as hell by the other stuff. :D)) Love/hate “relationship”!
I used to like him too. Like I said, I was never on his hype train but neither was I on his “I’m going to hate him cause popular” train either.
I just thought he was a good author and that’s that.
I’m really hoping his next book is good and is released before I pass away.
We agree on THIS point at least!
Thats because when they had the books, they had direct scenes and moments they could replicate and take inspiration from.
After that point, all they had was a rough outline of events intended to happen but no direct source to reference. They had to build the story themselves around the events this time.
I wish… WRITE THE DANG BOOKS GEORGE!
It’s nor her books or writing she’s a very skilled Author it’s her personal views and opinions people tend to dislike.
Joanne is an awful writer who has no talent or skill if you want to read an actually amazing book series by an extremely skilled writer I’d recommend A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler) or Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy.
The Harry Potter books are overrated trash that belong in the bargain bin
PS I’ve hated her books since I was a kid long before it became “cool to hate her” because of her awful opinions.
I think my favourite part of GRRM’s writing is that putting aside how Southpark ripped on how long it takes him to write a decade ago or the fact that he keeps telling people it will be done soon (and has been since 2016)… is the fact that there is another book planned after this one which based on how it takes him longer and longer to write would be released in… I wanna say… the 2040’s?
Tbf this thread was specifically about wow writers
That’s not what the title says so I do what I want.
(Also, I was responding to someone that brought up GRRM)
Im not complaining, just saying that the OP was about wow only.
Im as guilty too as i participated in talking about grrm
I think it’s fine to dislike an author and say you think they’re writing is trash but 600 million people disagree with you.
So what makes someone a good writer? If it’s to write a story people enjoy then numbers say she nailed it.
Yeah… unfortunately a lot of “his thing” is blogging about football and working on projects most of us are indifferent about!
“Ive written a new book in the ice and fire series! Its set 250000 years in the past on a distant island far west of the maps. It tells the story of a squirrel whos descendants would end up on westeros. Hope you enjoy!”
Not a real book yet but it will probably get released before winds of winter does.
