Light blinding and the light

Did you read my post?

The light is very clearly inspired by certain real world philosophies that I will not delve into here. Uther characterises it as being primarily a force of grace. If no one is worthy of the Light, then that means that in the eyes of the Light everyone is evil because we’re dealing with innately flawed creatures. To you the Scarlets might seem evil but to the Light you are also evil so if it answers to you, why wouldn’t it answer to the Scarlets? The whole point of the concept of grace is that it is unmerited, undeserved and not contingent on your actions.

Also the Light does care. Again, if you read old lore you can clearly see that the Light behaves quite differently and is not just a kind of confidence trick. If memory serves me right, the Light reaches out to Arthas right before taking Frostmourne at a point where his faith is already very shaken and he believed the Light had forsaken him. That scene stands in complete opposition to the kind of Light you’re describing. It portrays the Light as both having a will and being mainly characterized by divine mercy if you embrace it.

LMAO you cannot tell me a throwaway joke comment at the end is you earnestly reacting… for one, yes, ARCANE MAGIC IS CHAOTIC and that’s always been the case. Arcane itself is order, mortals using it arent.

The sunwell isn’t a mortal (except for weird lore blizz doesn’t like to mention rofl but even she’s not mortal anymore) it is a well of energy.

It does not.

Out of game:

Dnd Pally Smite messes up Demons so that’s whe’re it started.

In game: Pure guessing but might have to do with Light’s cleansing nature and Fel being a literal destructive corruption, it’s basically fantasy radiation, so demons being “purified” of the fel but there’s nothing non-fel left.

Again pure guessing on my part.

Now they’re getting it. The energy and user don’t always align.

I’m very curious if Kalec is gonna show up >_>

Which is why i was the one pointing out it’s manifestations, the Naaru, lmao…

And?

The naaru may not even be pure manifestations of it, given their shifting nature between light and void
although apparently all things light and void can shift between them.

nooooooooooooooooooo you don’t get it the light is my real world religion and it’s objectively good unlike all those stinky fake religions

lol. lmao.

Blizz would earn some grace themselves if they ever communicated what/why instead of just arbitrarily rewiring the entire setting every expansion.

Everyone went into Midnight seeing snippets and thinking “Oh, something new is happening that is making Light wielders lose their marbles!”

And now they’re going “no that always happened.”

No. It didn’t.

Well, it’s right there. There’s even a flashback sequence to remind you of it! :slightly_smiling_face:

See the problem is acting like, if they did that, it somehow wouldn’t be a retcon lmao. If the argument against the light wasn’t necessarily ‘not evil’ either and it’s purest manifestations objectively were good, that this might be retconned later.=, then that’s a bit dishonest. It means it wasnt’ always like that, lmao.

They were described as perhaps the purest expression of the light in the universe. The fact they have a void state doesn’t inherently contradict that, it just as easily acknowledges the interplay of light and void.

Multiversal Energy Dynamics and the Murmuration Paradox doesn’t mention Order at all strangely:

It mentions Higher Energy Planes(Light, Fire, Air and Spirit with the Twisting Nether being the final point to reach) and Lower Energy Planes(Death, Decay, Earth and Water with Void being the final point to reach).

Void basically matches the Negative Energy Plane of DnD while the Twisting Nether matches the Positive Energy Plane.

Now if we look at opposites Light is opposite of Death, Decay is opposite of Spirit, Earth is opposite of Air and Water is Opposite of Fire.

The Light that doesn’t go insane is the Light of Healing thus Holy and Protection Paladins are of the Cosmic Force of Life while the other that causes Lightblindedness is either the Cosmic Force of Light or(considering Harandar’s Lightbloom comes from Shaladrassil the Nightmare-corrupted Tree) the Cosmic Force of Shadow or Death playing Light.

And them being the purest expression of the light could just be someone’s perspective.

Yeah sure and chronicles being titan PoV totally wasn’t a retcon and thats why it’s even outright referred to us as players…

Yea?, this entire franchise is built on retcons the light itself is a retcon, wc1 and 2 had the alliance serve the actual christian god and orcs serve the literal devil from da bible. you like a story that is nearly 30 years of retcons stacked on top of each other.

Yes, and many retcons that get pointed out for being stupid get themselves retconned later or hamfisted back out of place. This conversation has been had to death: not all retcons being bad doesn’t magically mean all are good and acting like ‘actually they were never explicitly said to be this in canon’ is just dishonest.

its not dishonesty at all, because once something is no longer canon, it no longer matters.

LMAO “it’s not dishonest to dismiss criticism of a retcon by denying it’s even a retcon and saying lore always said this” is insane.

Light blinding isn’t -adding- anything, it’s reductive to the characters and makes the light generic. So far the rules you yourself lay out for it in this post do not align with the characters nor history.

you can criticise it until you’re blue in the face, maybe they will change it but until then this is the canon lore, i do not have to agree with any of your criticisms. Unless this is changed before live,or until it is retconned at a later point, it is canon. You can criticise but that does not change its status as canon.
