Just a reminder that all of you are absolutely fabulous in your own unique way.
And, in case you needed to hear it today, there are people who love you just the way you are. You don’t have to change yourself to make other people happy. You don’t have to explain yourself to others. Live your truth and love yourself. You are amazing. The world is a better place because you exist.

While it’s a sweet sentiment that folks shouldn’t have to change themselves for others, it’s a falsehood.
All my life I’ve been a high empathy person who feels too much. I had my thoughts and feelings dismissed frequently even if I had a point or was right because I committed the crime of occasionally displaying that I feel emotions.
The only way for me to make others happy and be respected and listened to, (if you consider getting interrupted constantly by cis guys, trying to mansplain topics I know more about than they do, is being listened to) was to basically go from being The McCoy to the Spock.

Usually you can’t change yourself to make other people happy (because you can’t please everyone all the time) or you find yourself compromising too much and losing too much of yourself in the pursuit. People don’t see who you really are anyway. They only see the version of you they’ve created in their mind. It’s better to just change yourself for yourself to make yourself happy. I’m all for self improvement. Just don’t be chasing after someone else’s version of who you should be. I say this as someone who has a serious mental illness so I get the desire to be different than who you are to fit in.
If you have to change who you are or a part of who you are to make someone else happy then something is wrong. People should accept your for who you are, faults and all. You shouldn’t change just because some quirk makes them unhappy and in the process to make them happy so you have to suffer.
Sure you will change naturally as life goes on but you shouldn’t change who you are just to make those around you happy. I tried that once and all I found was I was overly depressed and wanted to harm myself as I could never please people enough as I lost who I was in the process.
We’re always changing.
To be better than we were, or because we want to change something for the hell of it.
Change isn’t bad on its own. Sometimes its good sometimes its bad.
Its too complicated a thing to just label as bad to change for someone or not to change for someone. A whole lot goes into it.
I do not think that one should change purely because it will make someone else happy in general, but changing because -you- want to make that person happy (and don’t mind the change) isn’t the worst thing in the world by any means.
I don’t know that is just my thought.

Change isn’t a bad thing but you need to recognize if you are changing for the wrong reasons or if people are trying to make you change for the wrong reasons.
I had to deal with someone I trusted who just wanted to make me change so it would make them feel better and they could control my unwanted behaviors. But if they did something to make me feel bad they flipped out. It was very toxic.
My point is you need to recognize when people are trying to make you change for the wrong reasons that are detrimental to yourself. Yes there are times when change is wonderful and a good thing but there are other times when it will just lead to heartache.

Thats very fair and I agree with this.
Tennessee continues to be a national embarrassment, and now I’m worried because I’m trans and live in the state just north of them.

That show is still going on? I haven’t seen that since I was a kid myself. Or maybe it was just a game at the time.
I saw a tweet about it, but need to watch yet
Edit: Watched it. I’m going to need a min. It’s not because I’m crying.

I don’t know what happened but I can guess and I gotta say I hate it here (The Us)
Basically they created bathroom segeregation requiring a business to put out “we allow biological males to use the women’s restrooms” or something else foul. And they’re trying to make not posting the sign punishable by jail
…
Like what do you even say to that? How is that anything other than full bigotry. I know their reasoning is probably “Think about the children!” which they use on every civil rights issues, but my god. My goodness. I can’t. I hate them all so much.
