Maybe you should realize not everyone raids in this game. Let’s not be disrespectful or ignore the fact that not everyone plays this game for the same reasons.
It’s fine to have raid storyline and raid specific quests. This Bolvar quest is one in a series from the base storyline. So there’s the difference.
As it is right now it’s not main story, but are you seriously suggesting that Thrall, Baine, Jaine and the boy king will have nothing to do with the main story in 9.1 onwards?
I disagree that it’s a terrible thing. In past expansions, I’d get a quest to kill so and so in the raid, and I would often put it off for a while if I wasn’t already actively in a raid that was working on it.
So in that regard, it’s really no different. At least this time, I didn’t even know that quest you’re talking about existed, because I don’t have a quest clogging up my quest log that tells me to kill Denathrius, that I won’t do for another month or 2 maybe if at all.
Strangely enough I kind of like youtube. I binge watched all the cut scenes in BfA and it worked better than running into them spread over two years. I did that with the raids too, but it’s hard to find streamers that post vids without obnoxious music…
Lots of hate for LFR, sure it’s a giant mess but if you don’t like it you aren’t forced to do it. It was a means for people who don’t want to be in a real raid to still be able to see the fights, get a concept of the story, and some suboptimal gear. Gating story behind an already gated raid is a terrible idea, and the amount of people who support the destruction of casual players don’t understand the consequences. You’ll be playing a very very dead MMO if it returns to the raid or die formula.
