LFR Loot Rolls

Even without that particular quirk, something that happens with Group Loot is guilds/friends/groups go into content and all roll Need on something 90% of them don’t need to funnel it to the 1 who does. It makes doing any raid content as a solo pug, LFR or otherwise, a massive waste of time.

You want Spymaster’s Web on your caster? Too bad, the Ret Paladin with loot spec set to Holy won the roll to give it to his guildmate, which is what 5 other people were trying to do too.

Odds are almost always stacked in a way you can’t see until the rolls go out. At least for the stuff that people actually care about.

And indeed, you are another one who is posting to justify how one player got 4 pieces of loot off a boss, which would never have happened with PL. But I’m sure the game will be better if you can convince non-raiders not to ever raid by making LFR a totally feel bad experience.

You are right. No one should ever start raiding, because not only will they never get loot, but the loot is predesignated by the system to go to premade groups, who deserve it more. And it’s a feelbad experience twice, once when it happens to a player that needed gear and watched one player hoover it all up, and again when they post on the forum that they don’t think it’s fair that all the loot went to one person, and are told that they are paying to carry some dude who is going to ransom the gear to the highest bidder, better have your paypal ready guys.

Who are you to decide what people need and why, anyway? If I need an item, that means I need it. It doesn’t matter if it’s for an upgrade or for transmog, or for crafting. All are justifiable reasons for rolling on loot.

I will admit though that I don’t really care for it when people need an item with the intention to sell it, but I also support having the freedom to choose what we do with our own loot. Gotta take the good with the bad.

I agree that LFR “random” rolls do not, in fact, seem properly random (how does someone always roll a 97+ when only a dozen people are rolling a d100?) and that personal loot in LFR would probably feel less terrible.

I disagree that it’s worth crying over loot that’s on par with Heroic Dungeon drops.

I think the only way to truly make loot “fair” is to completely remove need/greed, go with a blind truly random system that takes your current gear into account and it’s effect on your DPS/HPS.

The same thing happened under Personal Loot. You aren’t wrong, and I do agree this is a rather scummy thing to do to people in a PUG raid. It’s just going back to Personal Loot would not prevent this from happening.

or just rewards items and 1 token , after 8 tokens u can buy any item from that boss…

(that other game does that …and its feel kinda fair because no matter what after 8kills u are 100% guarenteed the pice of loot) , 8 kills = 8 weeks …

buuuuut raids would die after 8th save …well for some ppl it actually dies even faster than that , the amount of ppl that raid 1 month and quit has been always high…

plus ppl still raid for logs , helping others , mounts , etc

I don’t think that’s a bad idea at all… I can see the lack of participation happening because people can actually pick and choose what they want instead of working towards finding it, which I personally prefer. I think the token in most situations should drop at a percentage though, shouldn’t be every time.

LFR is for transmog, if you want gear almost any other activity is a better source.

after 8th kills or lets put 10 kills …i think U AS PLAYER DESERVE the loot.

Seasons last what? 20-25 weeks…

This isnt vanilla anymore…is 2024 , let ppl get items …is not like its free , u still need to kill the boss X times…

the only ppl that hurts is ppl that sell runs , because after the kills they no longer will be buying kills anymore. (well alts exist tho)

I mean, GL has some major issues. But it’s still “fair”. Everyone who is eligible to roll on a piece has the same chance as anyone else. So that part is fair at least. My issue with GL isn’t that it’s not fair. My issue is more related to the toxic behavior of certain members of the wow community in response to getting drops. This was the massive advantage that PL had over GL since you could hide your loot drops from other members of your raid. Something GL can’t do.

Eh… if we’re talking LFR, that’s fine. I started writing up a whole argument against portions of it and forgot we’re talking LFR LOL. It’s for low end gearing anyway, so probably increase the number of drops too… but even for Heroics and Normal raids, maybe add a token at a percentage chance drop.

That’s called RNG. Fairness has nothing to do with it until you zoom out to thousands of rolls over time. That same person who got lucky multiple times in a single raid also has bad luck steaks.

I am tired of pretending that personal loot giving everyone a chance at loot whether they need it or not is the same thing as everyone and their mom rolling need on actual drops they won’t use just because it’s lit up.

It’s not.

An organized group spamming need to funnel will always weight drops toward their group. It actively makes the chances of you getting loot go down. Personal Loot, sure, they might trade it to a friend if they happen to get it, but your initial chance of getting loot from the system is unaffected.

It’s a different flavor but the same end result. Actually personal loot made it much easier for loot to go to people who wouldn’t use it since there are protections preventing you from rolling on a lower version of what you already have.

It doesn’t make your chances go down here either. They are eligible to roll, you need to beat them unless they choose to pass. Your odds of winning will be equal or greater under group loot, because there are built in protections on rolling.

had a typo

i fully support the bro getting 4 pieces of loot.

get that gear, king! finger to the haters!

5 different people who in all likelihood also only wanted them for transmog/DE anyway, and the LFR hero whining about their loot being “stolen” STILL gets nothing because they lost the behind the scenes roll.

Remember when personal loot was forced on everything? And then they had to put “legacy loot” in as a bandaid to fix such a horrible idea? Then they did something even more stupid by making LFR group loot again despite it being objectively the only place personal loot belongs?

It’s been a hilarious past decade, I tell ya. Kinda justifies the way the world is headed.
