LFG Tool is Lazy; Needs "Quest" Category

LFG Tool should allow players to request help for particular group quests. I wanted to get people to help me with “Massacre at Gruul’s Lair” but the LFG doesn’t give me this option.

Let me go a bit further by saying that whomever is making changes to TBC really should be looking at what addons are currently being used and taking hints based on that.

Questie, for instance. A lot of players are using Questie because it allows us to link the group quests into LFG chat to reach out to other players. The fact that the LFG tool doesn’t account for this is astounding. It shows me that Blizzard don’t really know what the average player is doing.

This gives players the perception that you’re NOT actually playing the game and are NOT making additions/changes based on your own experiences in addition to player experiences. This addon is based on the guesswork of an older game, not the #SomeChanges mentality you espoused regarding a more experienced player-base.

The fact that you haven’t tailored an LFG tool to how your playerbase uses the LFG channel shows that you don’t know how your player-base works.

This is lazy, Blizzard. And I think you know it’s lazy. And I don’t expect you to change it because you’re lazy. Prove me wrong.

yup this would be helpful.

I just don’t get how they just give us a tool which has no relevance to how the player-base work. If I were a developer and were making a tool on this, I’d go straight to whatever addons players were using for groupfinding, and would make something based on that.

What we have here is an antiquated addon that is very much like what we got in the original TBC but isn’t even close to the #SomeChanges kind of mindset they promoted at Blizzconline.

It’s lazy. Plain and simple.

Is there anyone approaching the dev table saying, “Hey, a lot of players are using this popular addon to group for quests. Seems to me if we’re creating an LFG tool, we should account for what players are doing…”

But no, that’s not what this is at all. This is just a mirror of what we got in original TBC. It’s a #NoChanges addon.

This is just plain lazy.

even if they were to send out a survey or communicate to the player base to get a feel for what they think would be a good addition. I know you will never please everyone but at least they will get a general idea of where to go when implementing changes.

Yeah, the tool isn’t great, something like quest grouping as an option in it would be nice (it does have zones). Overall I don’t know how much I’ll use it. I mean it’s nice that there’s something it’s just not that great IMO.

That’s what I mean!

Blizzard has a chance to look at what the players are doing and make something amazing.

But, instead, they just give us the original #NoChanges LFG tool for a player-base that has grown and evolved since then.

It’s lazy. Plain and simple.

I seem to recall they advertised something before release that was far more dynamic than this thing. I can’t find the web page at the moment, though.

Probably a reason almost nobody used it back in original TBC.

That said, I for one am glad that Blizzard is lazy with Classic, because if they were more actively changing the game to give modern players all the crap they are asking for, the game would probably be unplayable by now.

Assuming the LFG channel wasn’t full of spam I’d imagine it’s just easier to use that rather than the tool, just quickly type out what you need every few minutes and it’s basically popping up on everyone’s screen right in front of their face. Sometimes people will help even if they don’t need it.

For sure a straight up quest option would be better. (Maybe just group quests).

You can choose zone. And put the quest in the comment. I saw someone looking for CoD under shadowmoon valley. Unfortunately there is also the limitation that it only allows the zones it thinks are appropriate for your level.

This is the #SomeChanges version with quests removed. I remember using it back in the Olden Times, and contemporary references including Blizzard’s own “preview” page (archived) support my memory of that category existing.

The LFG bulletin board addon is better than the in game LFG system.

I’m just gonna keep using the addon :man_shrugging:
