That’s not true to the expansion though. It would have to release with ICC to be true to the expansion. Also the game will be fine there’s thousands of new players funneling into the game for WOTLK. The only doomsday scenarios are the ones being made up by the vocal minority on the forums who most likely are just retail tourists or people coming from private servers.
I’m curious why people are saying this? A majority of Classic tend to be more on the casual side, I don’t doubt there will be some form of gate keeping but that exists in any MMO.
I think there will be a wide variety of group types.
Depends on who you talk to that’s why I said most and not all.
I’m fairly convinced there are like 5 people on the forums, all just talking to their own alts
I thought I was the only one here and I had gone mad from too much Wonderland exposure.
The tool is horrible. At the VERY LEAST we should hace something similar to the one in retail since it is superior to the one in beta. However that still doesnt adress the main issues that causes people to want RDF.
What feedback can you provide to improve on it?
Simple, copy and paste the Retail LFG tool.
But it should say minority.
If they added a queue feature to what they currently have that autmated group making a majority of the community would be fine.
Of course you’d still have the minority that want all the convenience but that’s what compromise is, give and take.
They would also have to polish up the tool we currently have because I think alot of the hate stems from the fact that for what it is, it could be alot better without having to be RDF.
How many of those new players will stick around when they can’t get into dungeon groups because they play the “wrong” class, spec, ect?
You say minority but I’d argue the majority of people I’ve talk to on this forum are against compromise. I literally have said maybe a dozen times what if they added it with the release of ICC and I’ve gotten screeched at every time.
I’d argue this seems more of a server issue than a game issue. You don’t run into these problems half as much on grobb than you would on a sweaty mega server.
I feel as though the general answers to this are very black or white. Either, or.
From my perspective, adding content that was cut originally from wrath is the answer to plug the holes with content draught. Recruit-a-friend type of advertisement to get people at max level to go with their friends out into the world and do dungeons.
We’re gonna run into history repeating itself with RDF as dps queues will undoubtedly be an hour long within a month or two past the novelty of the feature and people at end game having little incentive to do dungeons. I know so as I was there for the introduction of the incentive bag, it sucked and wasn’t worth it.
5 is generous.
I fully support all of this. I’ve been saying what we need instead of cata classic is phase 7. Considering WoD the classic servers could be an alternate reality and it would fit in canon. It would be better lore than SL retcon catastrophe at least.
The sadness i have for the amount of content cut from warlords or cataclysm is immense.
I wanted to see and be a part of the shattrah attack. The promise of player cities instead of just houses was so exciting but all we got was…garrisons…a non customizable prebuilt instanced solo playground. So much potential…forgotten…
There’s 2 BGs cut from Vanilla too. There’s a ton of content they could push with a smaller team. Everything doesn’t need to be expansion level with 6 new zones and 5 raids, just give us a piece of new content every 2-3 months and will keep paying
You clearly have no idea how dull the LFG tool on classic is.
It’s garbage. And I promise you it won’t be used to the extend you think.
The whole “one stop for all” is just a load of crap.
The amount of trash postings is already high in PTR just so people can spam chat and use BulletinBoard addon to sort through the mess of hundreds of postings in 1/LFG chat.
And now imagine it’s 20,000 people trying to find group.
LFG tool in it’s current iteration is unusable in the way you’re imagining it to be
Regardless of what tool we use the limiting factor will always be the supply of tanks and healers to supplement the time it takes to form a group.
Addressing the issue at its core should be priority such as why is there a high amount of people no longer doing dungeons once they attain raid gear. Like seriously I have a hard time thinking about this as throughout history the formula has been the same for dungeons/heroics. Mythics changed it up but it just adds another tier system that seperates new players from veterans.
In Original WOTLK, I could queue for a group as a dps, and knowing I have ~25 mins to kill I can farm, finish obscure quests, do dailies, duel, or have social experiences with other players.
In WOTLK Reforged, I can queue as a DPS, and then I must spam for 45+ mins while staying at the summoning stone so that my proximity to summon others can be listed as a bonus to inviting me to a group. I may also be charged gold for access to content, from other players that are gatekeeping me so they can RMT.
In one of these systems I can play the game, in the other I must stay still and desperately struggle with trying to get in a group.
