Retail is losing subscribers because there is next to nothing of interest to do. Part of this is because they nerfed heroic dungeons to keep people from spamming them for fun and profit, perhaps to “encourage” them to instead push high keys.
Unfortunately, most people who used to do mythic+ in legion (and the majority were doing low to mid keys) have stopped due to changes that have made them way less fun and rewarding. People who push high keys are unaffected and may not even notice these changes. But when I armory people now it is the exception rather than the rule that they do any mythic dungeons at all.
“Retail” can’t actually lose subs at this point, since subscriptions cover both retail and classic.
Oh darling, if no one is playing then its hurting. The people who are doing high end content will be the last to leave because they have invested too much into the game and it would suck to lose that investment.
You know way back in the wall of No days I was totally against classic and predicted this outcome. At 1st classic will be super popular and blizzard will focus on it and not on retail however in about a year classic will start losing players and retail will not be able to bring them back…hurting the wow ip overall
Why is it necessary to have an argument at all? Why can we not just discuss things?
I am probably a prime example of this issue. I have not been back on BfA for more than 10 minutes since Classic launched. And I have had a subscription, in an uninterrupted line, since 2009. Never, once, have I unsubscribed.
If it were not for Classic, I might very well have broken that line, finally. Despite how much I love WoW, I have been finding that love of the game becoming less of a reason to stay. Only Classic has brightened my WoW experience. I am not a hardcore raider, I love a wide variety of things and activities, and Classic has reignited that pleasure for me.
Unless Blizzard taps into exactly what it is that is (a) pushing people like me away and (b) drawing people like me to Classic, then their problems that are causing (a) will continue and you will find it harder and harder to do many things in WoW that require more than one person to do them.
Classic is an RPG game with a totally different meta where you can play as you want. Retail is a walk through story game with no challenging leveling components that hand you loot boxes so you can run the same content at 4 different levels like D3. Once completed in 6 months with nothing to do but wait for the next catch up mechanic. There is no catch up mechanics in Classic. Boring for people that need instant gratification or only have a few hours a week to play.
As a side note, i find the title to be rather amusing. Classic, a game without LFG, is causing problems in LFG. That’s kinda comical. Why not join an active guild?
If there is no one online to play with then m+ is hardly “fine”.
Aside from the fact that we have no evidence that “no one is playing”, the fact that a lot of people are now playing classic means blizzard is not hurting from this.
Retail is not a separate entity from classic. Money is fungible.
Personal opinion: BfA isn’t bad but it is lack luster and that coupled with a SEVEN MONTH wait to unlock flying really spoiled a lot of minds my own included.
all the guilds i was in disolved.
all the guilds i could join require achievments i dont have and acvhievments i cant get unless i join one of those guilds lol.
You have tons of evidence that no one is playing both in game and out. A quick google will point you to the evidence and even as a tank I have been in queue waiting for DPS for 30 minutes which has never happened to me before except in WOD during the dry spell.
I said retail is hurting right now and that later it will hurt blizzard in the long run…as classic will not keep all the people that flocked to it but I doubt they will all return to retail.
I’m not going to pretend that i know what guilds are like on your server, but on Area 52, guilds are spamming chat constantly. And you probably don’t want to be in a guild that requires achievements anyways? Asking for logs or proof of some sort of experience is one thing. But achieves? F that.
Go to your realms forum and let people know you’re looking for a new guild. Go to wowprogress and see who’s recruiting and send them a msg. Unless your realm is dead, you shouldn’t have a problem finding an active guild.
There is no evidence that “no one is playing”. Last night I saw people playing.
Fewer, no question. But “no one” is false.
Retail is not “hurting”. Blizzard is making money from the two products combined. In all likelihood there are more players right now than there were just before release of classic.
Devs have squandered any good will they have left as far as retail is concerned. The ball is in their court.
didnt literally mean achieves just to lazy to type a whoel thing on what guilds want, also kelthuzad is a dead server for horde right now but since classic its literally dead. i mean i think im the top 3 paladin on my server or some crap.
im not paying activision 40 dollars so i can swap my toon, ( CAD) stuff cost more
here.
Yeah i just looked at wowprogress. You just need to jumps servers if you can afford it. Seeing the number of guilds . . . both factions . . . Damn. Sorry.
