LFD opinion

I’m fine with lfd just no teleport please that’s what is the main issue for me.
auto queing for groups is fine I don’t mind that
making my own group is fine I dont mind that
but i’m personally not a fan of instant dungeon teleportation

either way, if it’s in or if it’s not in doesn’t change ill most likely be playing the game anyways just preferred for it not to be there.

whats wrong with instant teleportation? get everyone in a group then decide what instance you want/who isnt saved to something then have the tank/healer leave because they dont wanna do it, and now your stuck in que again?

like I said I’m just personally not a fan of it I would rather fly or run to the dungeon, personal preference.

You know you’re more than welcome to walk to the dungeon before you queue right?

Adding convenience as a baseline for everyone in the game means everyone either has to use it or play at a disadvantage. Handicapping yourself isn’t a good solution for people who want this to simply not exist in the game.

If he wants to walk or run to the dungeon there is nothing stopping him from doing so. How is he handicapping himself by doing what he prefers before he queues?

We prefer for the travel to be a necessary part of the game rather than forcing everyone in the group to wait for us while we take the ‘scenic route’. Choosing not to use the baseline convenience means it takes us longer to get to the dungeon than others. If that baseline convenience doesn’t exist, it takes everyone longer to get to the dungeon.

It’s perfectly understandable that many people like yourself don’t see merit in that, but you also have to understand that what you would call unnecessary inconvenience is what others would call a core aspect of the gameplay.

But if he does his travelling before he queues he got his immersion and hes not using up anyone elses time doing what he prefers to do.

Again, how is he handicapping himself travelling to the dungeon before queueing

Can we only queue for one dungeon at a time? Or will it be a roll of the dice that determines whether you’ve shown up early to the party or you’re going to be kicked because everyone’s waiting for you to travel there?

Traveling to the dungeon and sitting idly while waiting an unknown amount of time for a queue pop would not be a solution to the problem.

You’re kinda missing the point here. It’s not that dungeon finder would make it impossible to manually travel to dungeons. It’s that no one would. That aspect of the game would effectively be removed, because why wouldn’t someone use the convenient feature of just teleporting anywhere in the world from a capital city?

If you trivialize the size of the world and the distances between places you need to go, then they effectively cease to exist as features of that world because the overwhelming majority of players would just ignore them. So players who like the manual travel will either be forced to stop doing it so they aren’t a horrendous nuisance to their groups, or they’ll have to travel in a world where they’re more or less alone.

You should maybe watch the movie Cars if this doesn’t make sense to you. Same concept.

Yes, you can pick specific dungeons.

Seeing the world on your way to the dungeon must not be all that important then. The important part must be players having to play the game the way you want them to.

Catering to people who don’t play your game is how you get retail. Demanding QOL changes to improve your experience at the cost of Classic’s design philosophy is peak failed retail game design. You don’t have to use the LFG tool? You don’t have to play classic either. Retail is right there.

The no teleport thing is a good compromise. It sucks a bit for 1-70 levelling since it’ll make it a pain to do far away dungeons like for example RFD and SM as ally, but by far the most annoying part of the group forming process is the spamming of up+enter every 2 minutes in lfg or having to keep your eyes peeled for groups.

yeeeeahhhh… You don’t get it.

Watch Cars.

Haha. I’ve started telling people “You don’t have to play the game if you don’t like it” and they fail to see that it’s literally their own logic being reflected back at them. Even after posting a few tens of thousands of words on this topic, I still have no idea how to bridge this gap in understanding.

It seems like many people can’t or won’t just see that implementing convenient blanket features on the entire player population effectively removes whatever content those features are intended to help the player circumvent.

For now I’ve just been telling people they should watch Cars.

From what I’ve seen on these forums it feels like very few people are ever on here willing to change their opinions. You’ve been making a real effort to actually address and even compromise with people however sadly I think nobody will ever compromise with you. The vast majority of them are sub 70 or don’t even play classic or care to play it for more than a month once wrath drops. People like yourself and I will likely still be playing and have to actually endure the consequences of these QOL changes, but you will still endlessly have comments about how you’re restricting their classic experience.

yeah, lemme take the FP to the instance, and afk mid flight because its a 5minute flight, and a 10sec walk in northren.

Lemme get a group together just walk all the way to RFD from stormwind, and wait for the other person to do the same thing.

theyre gonna go back to SoM and mald in trade chat with the 11 other players sitting in the city.

You’ve been really vocal about the changes you want to the classic experience. Can you swap to your classic main and by doing so show us how much you enjoy playing it by any chance?

cant, hurt someones feelings, and the account got flagged, cant post until oct 10.
i actually hurt your feelings weirdly enough.

Wasn’t me that reported you, believe me my feelings don’t get touched reading WoW forums.

Right on the money. I wish people understood that me wanting something they disagree with doesn’t mean I somehow mean to exert my will onto them and control their personal playstyle. Somehow, wanting a game where travel is an intended feature of the game that can’t be circumvented in most circumstances makes me a ‘purist gate keeper’.

Like, sorry you only ever played mobile games and you got addicted to the repetitive action of swiping your credit card for a time skip. xD So sorry I want a game where everyone is on equal footing and the game doesn’t just play itself for you. Terribly sorry that I think people should actually roam around in this gigantic world the devs crafted rather than sitting in a capital city and collecting their satchel of helpful goods before raid logging.

Yeah, now you’ve got it!
