I’m trying to figure out why people are so bent out about the LFD Debate.
The way I interpreted Blizzard’s statement, they weren’t planning on axing LFD entirely. Rather, it sounded like they were thinking of removing the cross-realm features and then also removing the instant dungeon teleportation.
Personally, I always enjoyed the automatic ease of dungeon finder, but the instant teleportation forever shifted the game (imo) from an MMO to more like a Multi-Player Sandbox game. I always felt this took some of the wonder and world out of the game.
Anyway, I am hoping my interpretation is correct, and that they are planning on releasing an automatic group finder that you can Q for while questing or farming, and then once your group is together, it’s sort of up to you to figure out the rest.
Would that solve some of the debate, or do people really want the exact same LFD that was in Original Wrath?
No Dungeon Finder – Players rediscovering Wrath of the Lich King Classic won’t find the Looking for Dungeon feature originally added in Patch 3.3.5. We’ve heard from our Classic community that the importance of social bonds is a big part of what makes Classic their game of choice, and we agree.
What part of “No dungeon finder” leads you to believe they are removing just the cross realm part?
Yeah, maybe you are right. She specifically touched on the instant teleportation and cross-realm, which is why I interpreted some nuance in the implementation, but who knows I suppose.
So are you saying that instantly teleporting to the dungron is less immersive than pointing your mount in the direction of the dungeon and then afking until you get there?
It’s my expectation that they’ll reverse their decision on this after the bulk of sales on the retail expansion have concluded, and then say “hey we listened guys”.
I mean, flying to a flight point. Mounting up my mount. Passing some scenario and maybe aggoring a few mobs. Meeting someone else at the stone. Potentially finding the other faction there, and fighting for the right to summon.
Yeah, that is 100% more immersive than clicking a button and just teleporting from the world into a little silo.
LFD if it is server only completely negates the argument of Randoms thinking there is no comunity punishment for joining, acting a fool, then leaving…
I am from Whitemane alliance and in 1 of the only 2 guilds still there, we are moving next week… HOW are you NOT going to talk about server balance AND ALSO NOT have LFD? it has been really hard to do very simple things.
It was a feature in wrath… why not leave it in there? LFD =/= LFR. bring it out later, like in ulduar.
Lol hardly ever happens, maybe pre phase 2 in vanilla it did but keep dreamin
We both know the majority of people get in group, go up in the air, point mount in direction of dungeon and afk once theyre close. This isnt even debateable
This is why I walk instead of drive. I may be assaulted. I may step in dog doo. There’s so much immersion I could be missing out on by doing what I want to do more efficiently!
Even if it were to be server only it wouldn’t matter for the mega server that have 20k players, you can’t really have a healthy community with that many people.
Ion only said that because he wants his game populated. What better way to advertise retail than to do it while classic dev is sabotaging their own game
Stating a retail dev advertising a popular system is still in their new game doesnt strengthen your perspective at all lol
Social bonds are important in most online games, so that’s kind of a weird point from him.
When I play DotA, I don’t always have 5 people. I don’t play solo though because the social aspect between friends is what makes it fun. Thank god I can click a button and it’ll find me 3 other people and join a game though because sitting in chat to look for people would be silly.
So, with LFD, I still queue with friends but we don’t have 5 people. How is the social experience any different from inviting a dude spamming in chat for 20 minutes who doesn’t want to have a conversation with us and just wants to get the dungeon done versus clicking a button and having the same random dude automatically placed in my party?
Kind of a weird feature of the game to remove but whatever. Boosts are still fine
Funny thing is when asked about the low level leveling experience when wrath wont have LFD to help it he said theyre still trying to figure out how to help with that lol.
