Leveling too fast for casual party

Long time player in my 50s, been playing on and off since 2006. Played through classic with my wife over a year ago she loved it. Just came back to show her Cata.

One day and we’re at level 19, already outleveling our gathering professions and our zone , there’s a 50% xp buff we can’t play without.

Yes, yes. “Plenty of time for the grind at 85”. But my wife and I aren’t raiders, we’re causals. The leveling experience is part of the fun.

It would be nice if they offered a “halve xp” option for those of us who aren’t in a hurry. Making low level profession stuff feels so pointless when the xp you get from gathering the mats outpaces the levels those things are useful at.

Also if you want to spend 5 hours per level you should try vanilla, it’ll take months to reach max playing casual

Thank you for the suggestion to speak to an inkeeper about turning it off. I’ll check when i get to play next. I don’t recall this option being listed anywhere on startup.

As for “play classic”, read my original post: been there, done that.

The irony is era leveling you also level out of areas in a way.

When Its goes all red you must leave it to even the other continent you didn’t even start on sometimes.

and…come back when its yellow. It could be days for that.

My now 20 s. priest cleared out red and west of workables. So I knew to death march to aberdine. It was there I cleared the 20 ding. to now go back to redridge and hate life less since more doable yellow.

I believe Joyous Journeys also ends again soon going off what some others have said in other posts.

If you want to enjoy the journey I would suggest leveling in Classic Era.

You say that as if there’s not a whole different set of quests to enjoy in the Cataclysm that people would want to experience.

Cataclysm is about planning the story one wants to see.

If a night elf pushes the night elf story, yes, they will miss out on some say human story. cata leveling to me better supports staying in one racial area. xp scale has you needing to leave a place less.

Its only seen in era since ashenvale will red out. and now you hit say duskwood. so those eastern ashenvale quests stop being red and get more yellow.

Cata smoothed this out to have this example night elf in night elf lands more basically.

either you roll alt 2 human to see human story. or not have that example night elf not run night elf quests so much basically.

Or era classic lol. you will see at least 2 races stories as the red quests and mobs come up, often.
