My problem with SoD was that class identity basically went out the door. Like retail.
What I dont get it when I login and it puts me on layer 1 and then I go to a quest area and there’s 15 people there.
Was that really the best layer for me when I logged in?
this… problem isn’t layers. it’s this ridiculous idea that we can fit everyone into 1 megaserver
Yeah, it’s kind of ridiculous. Was trying to kill some centaurs, got maybe 2? Otherwise the whole place was a wasteland of players standing around for respawns. So I just logged.
I get it’s a new server. The other ones at launch were rough in the early zones but when everyone is on one server it’s a problem for way longer.
yes hope you like the changes
all changes are good because vanilla is bad, remember
I’m excited for when TBC launches and almost every lvl 60 will be in Hellfire Peninsula!
Can’t you just group up with them, rather than competing for the same mobs?
Youre extremely intoxicated if you think thats true.
I can promise you that if you spend 10 seconds on the retail forums youll endlessly see people complaining about “this class has this and does this damage and I only have this and cant do that”
Just such a lie, classes 100% matter in retail. Just stop it.
That’s the specific experience that could be better via layering and dynamic respawn rate tweaks, IMO.
We don’t need starting area respawn rates but rather enough to keep players moving through areas without 4 minute waits between tags.
Plus there are some very specific questing log jam points they could focus on to alieviate the majority of it.
Lets assume I do, while I get an EXP reduction for it, I still compete with 2-3 other groups or X amount of individuals. Partying barely cures the symptom.
Easy fix…dont rush along lvling with every other hardcore nub racing to end game…slow down enjoy the process and before you know it you arent in a mad competition with everyone else…
Slow down how? Literally stopping and looking at the sky? I am not even rushing along, im following my leveling way since classic came out. I am not hyper fixated on getting to 60, I just want to quest.
Got any more clichés? Every mob is congested with people thanks to blizz forcing mega servers on us.
They could extend dynamic spawns to higher level areas.
The issue is particular acute for quests that either have low mob numbers/density, and/or are targets for both horde and ally quests.
The regular panthers in STV as case in point. At any point there’s maybe 8-10 spawns, and with 40 people trying to kill them with full respawn times, it’s…a poor experience way moreso than the original.
you can group for that quest though. You only need the kills, not a loot item.
A lot of quests are actually faster for 2 main reasons. 1) if you group up, kill quests can be done very quickly and safely. 2) extra mobs are cleared out of areas allowing you to access quest objectives you might not be able to reach as easily otherwise.
It’s always situational. I know some people don’t like to group, but the option is there and it’s easy to join for an objective and drop group as needed.
Certain areas are more populated. If Westfall is too busy, go to Darkshore or whatever suits according to your level and faction.
Guess what you can do on a megaserver that you can’t do on a local one? You can type /1 (or /g) “LF a layer invite”.
I wonder why all the people who say they just want TBC are playing now? Why put up with mad rush if the game you want to play won’t be out for a year? Why not chill on Era and just level a toon or two on 20th Ann. servers when you get bored while the FOMOs are “enjoying” the fresh experience?
I hate the new fresh servers so much right now lol. Just play regular era and come back in a month or two when people finally quit or leave, that’s my plan anyway. We all know these people will leave as soon as their streamers find somewhere else to play.
The worst zones are badlands because PVP.
Blasted lands because worst quests ever, and grouping hinders you.
Searing gorge because pvp.
STV is a good zone. you can group with 5 and all get credit for 90% of the quests.
PoE2 comes out this friday. That’s going to take some people away as well.
