I have been wracking my brain on what to do with it and well would it be a good idea to give it to my dk to level with? My only other thought is to give it away as my pally is 70 at this point and I don’t know when I would ever level a war. I just don’t know if the starting DK weapons are better and if this is just a big waste of time on a BoE epic that I could make money off of.
I am not a good judge at this stuff and well my friends don’t really play classic for anything but leveling atm.
I’m almost 99% sure the DK weapon is better and even if I’m wrong you will be going straight to outland as soon as you leave the starting zone and the first quest there should have a way better weapon.
He was likely talking about leveling gear for wrath era content.
@ OP… Blade of misfortune (or the ramparts polearm if you don’t get Blade)—> Honed Voidaxe from Ring of Blood-------> Oathkeeper ----> S4 pvp weapon is your weapon progression.
For armor, Fel iron 4pc is a good start. Zangarmarsh 3 socket helm is pretty beastly too with some big gems.
That all said, DKs are one of the most absuredly easy to level classes in the game (Unholy is a top 3 leveling spec of ANY class), and the starter blue gear is roughly on par with BWL gear heading into outland. You really won’t be struggling to level whether you go nuts buying gear/consumes or not.
So i’ve tested DK on the PTR, mucked around with some potential items and levelled to about 65.
Simply put, no. You don’t need to buy anything really. You will level very quickly. If you want to invest some gold in levelling your DK drop it on minor speed to boots and a crusader enchant to weapon.
I believe the starting DK sword does 60 DPS and has better stats anyway. You can get several other weapons as you level from dungeons or quests.
I didn’t take imp unholy since you don’t get the presence until 70 and you will lose damage to pick it up.
The talent doesn’t require unholy presence for the speed boost, only the faster rune regeneration.
And those 2 talents are 2 of the best points in that tree for leveling purposes… A large number of the “damage” talents don’t even help you while leveling, since much of the unholy dk playstyle is mass pulling into a wandering plague/DND aoe storm then corpse exploding. That’s the reason unholy is arguably the game’s top leveling spec, it’s going to kill 8 mobs in the time it takes most classes to kill 1-2.
Yes, but you are spending 2 points for 7% move speed which isn’t worth it. You can get many more options for those two points that do more damage. Or just drop them in desolation. Either way the tree is packed with good options, everyone will be playing differently and this thread wasn’t here to discuss any of this.
You don’t really blood strike while leveling, because you should never be fighting things single target… Desolation is a waste of points. Your blood runes go to Pestilence, DND, and if you somehow still have living mobs on your 2nd rotation or blood tap, then you blood boil.
