Leveling as disc priest?

I’m assuming dungeons are the best way to level as discipline priest? can i still do questing easily as disc, or will i need to go shadow? i’d prefer to stay disc

Shadow is always faster in the world. Disc will pretty much never die unless you pull a ton of mobs and go OOM. But sPriest can pull a group and also be able to kill it and fear it and still shield themselves. Disc is fantastic in dungeons.

On my 2nd disc from 80-85, I stayed disc in opening up zones to get the tabards, but only cuz I was too lazy to make a shadow spec knowing I was going to dungeon grind for the most part. It was noticeable slower from 82 on.

So overall what’s the best way to level from 80-85 as priest?
Can i level as disc, or is it too slow?

It wasn’t that much slower for me, but I mixed in dungeons in with questing.

If you already have access to the BoE head enchant from Hyjal, you don’t have to worry about rep quite so much now that ZA/ZG are out for catch-up gear.

I’d say dungeons are the way to go until you get bored.

Thanks guys!! what do i need rep/tabard for? I don’t PVE, i only pvp, do i still need? I use pvp head/shoulder enchants…

As a pvper, you don’t.

I meant in the opening quest side of things being slower vs swapping to shadow. Rather than mobs dying in 2 hits, they took 3.5 as disc.

I’ve leveled both Shadow and Disc.
Disc in OG and Shadow this round.

Combo of rested XP, literally 2.5 zones of questing and some dungeons and I was done. It virtually took no time at all.

Shadow might be a tad faster but …

Look at each quartermaster and see who has stuff you can use at exalted. Therazine for sure for enchants.

I think I did earthenring, Ramkahen, Therazine, Ramkahen and finishing up with Hyjal.

I did switch to shadow for a couple of quest, but I just couldn’t resist the survivability of disc(shield and atonement)

Oh I loves me some Disc Priest. They are fun for leveling and heals.

I was Disc all thru WoTLK and Cata (original) so wanted to shake it up a bit this round and go Shadow/Disc.

Yes the dps spec is faster to quest than the healing spec.

If you care about mounts/flying, etc. and don’t already have rep with whatever race you care about, you might want to grab a tabard for that, so you get a discount. I think it’s a difference of something like 5000g vs 4000g for 280 and 310% flying.

I’ve been trying to level using random dungeon finder and been in queue for dungeon for 25 mins so far, is this very common? :open_mouth: I’m que’d as disc/healer

I guess questing might be a better option till a certain level, or?

Quest while you wait for queue to pop.

I find that questing while waiting for dungeons to pop work best.

alright ty guys!!!

Also either of you know if fade ability is worthless in pvp as discipline? i remember in wotlk it would remove movement impairing effects as shadowpriest

but i think it’s worthless in cata as disc? i don’t see any value in it, unless i’m missing something? ty again guys!!

Without the talent its only a threat reduction ability, no real use in pvp. Maybe in AV since it has mobs.
