Level Squish -> SOLVED

  1. [World of Warcraft (1-60)]

  2. [Burning Crusade (61-65)]

  3. [Wrath of the Lich King (66-70)

  4. [Cataclysm (71-75)]

  5. [Mists of Pandaria (76-80)]

  6. [Warlords of Draenor (81-85)]

  7. [Legion (86-90)]

  8. [Battle for Azeroth (91-95)]

  9. [WoW ENDGAME (96-100)] FINAL Expansion! No More levels!

There can still be additional updates and new content, new seasons and new raids BUT NO MORE LEVELS OR 50$ Expansions!

And make WoW Endgame something special!!! TAKE YOUR TIME and DO IT RIGHT. Listen to player feedback and DONT RUSH IT, ITS ENDGAME! Make is something special and make hitting level 100 something special and not just another ding!

Lol. All I got to say.

“Do it right,” “Don’t rush it,” and “make WoW Endgame something special!!!” do NOT fit nicely with Activision Blizzard’s philosophies at all.

You work for FF don’t you ?

If anything, I’d rather be able to skip expansions, like we can right now, so for example:

This way we can jump from basic wow straight to cataclysm, and from cataclysm straight to legion.

That’s a good idea also, thanks for the constructive feedback :+1:

Yes I deffinently think this is what needs to happen if they are doing this. Combine more brackets and allow you to level exactly where you want to progress.

So many threads about this recently its hard to give a unified opinion. Wish they would have made posts on the forums instead of surveys that didn’t even go out to every one.

Doing that would entirely mess up the professions again.

Plus I dont understand why you figure all the people who didn’t want any zone scaling to begin with and that was the majority of people btw based on this forum would all of a sudden be happen with more zone scaling.

Especially considering zone scaling is what is causing all these problems in the first place.

Ending the game to solve the level squish problem is probably one of the most ridiculous ideas I’ve seen on this subject.

Well sadly no matter what happens people wont be happy. I cant understand the complaints against scaling, and i think the entire game should scale so all the old useless content could have some purpose, so we obviously have differing opinions there.

But either way, the problems with leveling didn’t begin last summer. Thats a pretty silly thing to say.

Really they started as soon as tbc launched and they realized most players had gone forward leaving azeroth empty.

Ever since, they have been struggling to keep leveling interesting and relevant and the level scaling was a much needed step 1, and HOPEFULLY there will be more steps coming.

If they think squishing the levels should be step 2, im open to it, but if that is ALL they do then they just shouldnt bother.

I was okay with leveling prior to 7.3.5 so yes in my opinion the problems started then - it has been one change after another after another done to try to please a group of people who I really don’t think can be pleased in this regard.

The problem with scaling is that it removed the built in power gains/reward structure and people can’t understand why it feels so unrewarding so blizzard has added in upgraded gear, will put in more talents/abilities and maybe even do a level squish and it still won’t be enough. Just you wait.

I agree, its probably more along the lines of: “Do it profitably”, “meet our deadlines” and “milk players the most”

I got a much better idea. Allow all zones to scale to max. But have it as a toggle with one of those dragon npc’s like they use already (Zidmori?). There. Now players can go wherever they want or do it the old way and even happily ignore BfA completely if they want to.

Gonna deck myself out in full ilvl 420 from Elwyn forest

This isn’t something I focus on.
I want to discuss ideas that can potentially make the game better.

No way you can convince me that level scaling has done anything but helped the game.

But that’s my actual issue with this idea. People want the level squish because of odd “feelings” they have about it being “unrewarding.”

I’m not concerned with them doing this to wage some psychological war with players.
I’m more concerned with the factual changes that would be implemented, not how people would “feel” about them.

The game is old, everything ends eventually… or were you figuring in 2090 or whatever they’d still be dragging this dead horse up a hill like they are doing now?

I have a leveling idea. Of course this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I find it would make for the most enjoyable leveling experience for me. It would be a major overhaul of the system.

  • Starting a new character, they put a heavy emphasis on your race and class in the starting zones. Gives your first two class based abilities.
  • you learn about your race from the officers of that race and as you go from 1-10 you learn most of your racial abilities
  • at level ten you receive a quest as an invitation to your class hall, where you’ll meet the major officers of your class. You choose a spec.
  • every 5 levels you gain, you go back to your class hall, where you’ll get a special assignment based on your spec. Completing this grants you a new spec ability. Quests are heavily revolved around the idea of the ability itself as it should really teach you how the ability is used. Every quest sends you to a different place in the world to undergo different training / new crisis.
  • at level 15 you get a class quest that rewards you with a class hall hearthstone.
  • you can change specs, but you have to be in the order hall and you have to do all the quests from the order hall for that spec to gain the abilities. The quests will scale with your level.
  • every ten levels the class hall is upgraded, and you can go into a new section of it, meeting new leaders, and getting new quests.
  • at level 20 you receive a quest from the alliance or horde commanders in your main faction city. Here you learn about the ongoing faction war and you receive your first pvp ability.
  • every 20 levels you are sent on an alliance or horde based pvp mission and as a reward you get a new pvp ability. Each twenty level quest is given to you from a different faction city, requiring you to have seen all of them by the end.
  • at level 25 you get a first mount quest from your racial leader. The mount will be heavily themed around your race.
  • at level 30 you get a new racial ability quest from your racial leader
  • at level 60 you get a class mount quest chain from your order hall.
  • at 65 you get a faction mount pvp quest from your faction commander
  • at level 70 you get a spec transmog armor set quest chain from your order hall
  • at 75 you get a faction transmog armor set pvp quest from you faction commander
  • at level 80 you get a spec transmog weapon quest chain from your order hall
  • at 85 you get a faction transmog weapon pvp quest from you faction commander
  • at level 90 you get your final racial ability quest from your racial leader
  • at level 100 you get your final spec quest from your order hall which grants you the ability to change specs wherever you are at any time.

Like I said. For me this would make for the most fun, good rewards and not boring ones, class, spec, faction, race emphasis on who you are, what you need to do, and why you need to do it, with lots of lore mixed in. I hope others would enjoy this experience too. Thanks for reading.

Or we don’t squish anything and actually address the general lack of reasons to be invested in the game before level cap.

Such as? The Cataclysm revamp didn’t go over well due to removing quests players enjoyed and subtracting from end game content development. Fixing the “world” to improve leveling every expansion would be the same.

Do you remember the reason for scaling? (worst thing implemented ever) So you can ENJOY all maps and history and blablabla, now they squish for you to enjoy all vanilla in 20 levels. Oh yeah, a lvl per map. Aren’t you happy???
