I just want to clarify something with the level boost. Can you use the boost to a existing character ? And if yes will you retain your profession level ?
Uhm, we have ALL that info,
It’s available on May 18
It will cost $40
It’s 1 per account period.
There are NO professions.
Have you not read the blue posts or pinned announcements?
OP: However there has not been a solid answer to this. But if we use retail boosts as an example it’s safe to say that if you already have a profession leveled to as far as you can before purchasing the boost, that it should carry over. They won’t give you extra points, however.
EDIT - Information can be found here.
Everyone who wants to join the adventure in Outland with their friends will also have the option to purchase the Dark Portal Pass (available May 18, $39.99), allowing them to boost one character of their choosing on a Burning Crusade Classic realm to level 58 (limit one per World of Warcraft account; not usable on blood elf or draenei characters).
Removed. No, I hadn’t read the investor reports.
Also heard you get a green set of gear. You’re not just left with starting mace and shirt at 58… that would kind of defeat the point of boosting.
Yes, however it’s REALLY bad gear, half of it is just pure +Stamina stuff, my 58 boost on the PTR has less stats than my 47 on live with dungeon gear. You’ll definitely want to spend those 2 weeks grinding out dungeons or grinding out PvP R14 gear before you go to Hellfire on launch, or you’re going to be Felboar feed for days.
Grinding gear right now for the boosted character isn’t so bad. I don’t have any character in classic but I was able to get some decent gear. Bought some cheap gear from AH then got a pug group on BRD and start live- 3 runs in total and got 3 blues from it. Also once I hit 60 I have enough honor for my grandmarshall wep and 4 pieces blue pvp set waiting for me. I played average 3-6 hrs a day since prepatch came out.
I used my boost and it guided me to creating a new character. I wasn’t able to use it on a toon I already had.
Edit: you can use it on existing toons. I was remembering wrong.
You can use it on an existing character. I did it a few days ago. In the boost screen you have an option to select a new character or choose an existing one.
i
boosted a preexisted character. you keep the same prof level you had before. you equip greens and your things deliver in the mail. you need to do a starting quest to receive your mount and some common materials. you also get an abilities reset while you gain all the skills without the need to buy them
The gear works well enough. Is it really good stuff? Not at all but it works well enough. I boosted a Druid that I am going Balance. The gear was a 50/50 mix of feral/caster so certainly not the best fit. That said, I went straight into Strat/Scholo and am now fully geared in dungeon blues. Most of those groups were with other boosted players, I didn’t see any non-boosts until the 3rd or 4th run.
So don’t sweat the gear, I see a lot of complaining here about it (naturally) but it would really only be an issue if you have no experience with the game. I skipped Classic but have played this game from Day 1 so it took me half the first Strat run to get the old Balance groove back and have been good to go since.
Yes, you’re right. I had forgotten about the very first screen. I think it suggests you start with a level 1, but says you can choose a different character.
Yes to both.
I just boosted a lvl 33 mage and profession skill remain in the same state as before the boost
