You can whine all you want but they’re part of the problem. Doesn’t matter if they’re “an official part of the game” or not. They’re an issue that creates problems for others and it must be fixed.
Yeah no, you wish it was that simple. The issue isn’t the existence of twinks themselves as I dare say most didn’t care about twinks UNTIL this crap started happening with them one shotting everything and screwing people over. Up until that point I know I certainly didn’t care, but since the twinks insist on screwing people over, they’re rightfully getting pushback. You’re allowed to seek out fun, and you’re allowed to like what you like. What you’re not allowed to do is grief another or have your fun at the expense of 4 other people being able to play the content they signed up for.
The issue is twinks cheesing busted mechanics to one shot bosses and by extension doing far more damage than even fully geared max level characters are capable of in many instances. 20 years of the game says that’s not supposed to be happening, and so does them preventing 70s from being able to xp lock. Twinks were locked out of the main pvp pool because their scaling was screwed up and it’s long past time to do the same for pve. Not one legitimate reason why the twinks can’t be grouped into their own pool with other twinks and like minded people who want to group with them. Folks can either advertise for a twink or tick a box to be put into the twink pool. Twinks and people who like them can do their thing, and people like me who actually like to play our toons can do so again without having to worry about someone exploiting busted mechanics.
“but they’re speeding up your runs you should be grateful.” Why am I going to be grateful for a service I do not want and did not ask for? If I wanted to do speedruns I would advertise for like minded people. Jumping straight to the last boss screws me out of marks and potential transmog, and XP depending on the toon I’m on.
“but that XP doesn’t amount to anything and it’s only 4 marks (or whatever it comes out to be depending).” For a singular boss perhaps, but you skip alot of “singular bosses” and it adds up fast.
“it gets the chore done faster”. Okay if you really think it’s a chore why are you playing it?
“they hurt no one and you get rewards still.” Actually they screw people over because you don’t get credit for the kill and you don’t get loot or rewards in many instances. Then when people dip they CAN get the deserter debuff.
If I wanted to do a speed run like it’s M+ Infinity Grade 1zillion, I would seek out like minded people. I signed up for GROUP CONTENT, not 1 twink and his 4 NPC teammates on follow with their thumbs up their nose. Twinks are by far the minority of people in this game and the other 99% of the game should NOT have to take the risk of getting screwed over by them every time we press that button. A bad group through no fault of our own is one thing that’s going to happen from time to time, but there’s a huge difference between a bad group and an obnoxious twink pretending they’re doing me a favor when they’re not. Ultimately people relying on twinks to clear TW or otherwise are only relying on a crutch because they’re not good enough to do it otherwise.
I have never seen a twink “one shot” a boss.
How are twinks screwing others over? They’re playing their character as the game intends. Locked experience with good gear.
Like I said, if you dislike it that much, don’t que for time walking. It’s a choice.
If you’re good. Why do you care about time walking?
that’s not happening. neither of those things is happening. relax.
Yes. I’m aware that PvP twinks have been around since brackets. I used to use battlegrounds to level and earn honor many years ago and fell under the sword of many twinks on my way through brackets.
The conversation topic is “Level 11 in Timewalking”. That refers to PvE for starters. Additionally, as someone mentioned twinking, turning off experience and a level 10 toon being able to enter timewalking dungeons are all part of the in-game systems.
The issue the OP is making is that the systems are being abused. I agree with the OP and my issue isn’t the fact that someone will twink. I can see enjoyment in that style of play. My issue is that the system isn’t being used for its intended purpose and it’s being abused costing me and others:
- Time
- Enjoyment of the game
Nobody enjoys entering a dungeon just to loot and be an NPC. Nobody enjoys having to repeat the dungeon because the “twink” abused their given advantage to rush ahead leaving others behind and locking them out of boss fights, which results in NO weekly quest credit and NO weekly vault credit.
This is EXACTLY what is happening.
Ask yourself this question.
WHY DO BLIZZARD ALLOW EXPERIENCE TO BE TURNED OFF?
Answer that question and you’ll be much happier.

I agree. I have never seen a twink “one shot” a boss. I have seen a twink “one shot” mobs in the dungeon and take zero damage in return. I’ve seen a level 10 Mistweaver Monk use ONLY Spinning Crane Kick to solo the entire dungeon themselves while other level 80 players were unable to keep up because they couldnt and or they were killed by mobs and had to release putting them back to the beginning.
I do timewalking because there is a weekly quest for it and I enjoy it. It has nothing to do with being “good”. I also enjoy M+ and Raiding casually. I don’t have time to keep a raiding schedule and I don’t enjoy my games wet.
Please read the reasons why in a post I made above in this thread. I think I was clear with the reasons why it’s a problem.
There is a well known hacker and exploit player who even has a YT channel and doesn’t hide the fact what they do or how they know it. Even they said “twinks” can reduce their chances of being banned if they would be chill and wait for others and not skip intended bosses.
I don’t have a problem with people playing the game the way they enjoy. I have a problem with it when it starts costing me time and enjoyment. Mostly my time. I can put up with a twink once inawhile and just loot and follow along like in Mists when it’s over in under 5 min and bosses aren’t skipped.
Also, I would leave the group when I saw the twink in a dungeon where I know they are going to skip bosses but then I take a 30 min debuff. Again my time.
First, thanks for the long response. Second, as i said before nobody is one shotting everything. Third, I apologize that you have got nothing but bad twinks who make the instance their own. It is meant to be a group activity and i always try to make that happen. On my twink a boss dies in 8 to 10 seconds. On my mythic geared toon it takes about 20 seconds. I don’t know why anyone would care whether you hit 8 abilities on a boss or 16.
On your second point, nobody is abusing anything. It works the same at level 11 as it does at level 80, the more stats you have the more powerful you become. At 10-11 blizzard has to make it so that a fresh toon with 20 stats can kill things, when you stack 200 stats on that you are 10 times more powerful. This is the basis for twinks. At 80 lets say a fresh 80 has 10,000 stats and a mythic toon has 50,000. so they are 5 times more powerful. This is why twinks are more powerful now but also why the 80’s will catch up by the end of the expansion.
On your many comments of the last 20 years. I have had level 10 twinks for all 20 years and they have always scaled in the same fashion. This is not a new thing.
On your comment that there should be a vast difference between the damage a level 11 can do compared to level 80. That is not the way the game works, it is scaled so that any level you can do comparable damage based on your gear of course. I have hundreds of hours put into gearing my twinks this expansion(probably far more than you unless your raiding and running lots of m+), not quite as much as my mythic toons but not that far off if you take out leveling, campaign, renown, etc. But you feel like I should do less damage than a fresh 80 that has spent 6 hours leveling?
Lastly, timewalking has 2 objectives. It’s the fastest leveling at the moment and to get a raid piece on alts for running 5 in a tw week. If it takes 100 tw dungeons(no idea of the correct number)to level 1-80 and you encounter a twink in maybe 10-15 of those it ruins your whole leveling experience? You can’t just say thanks for the fast level and go on with day? Or do you forget how to play your toon because of that 5 minutes? Then once your 80 and have your 5 dungeons to do it ruins your experience because in one of them you happened to get a twink that turned that chore into 5 minutes instead of 10 minutes?
I believe your hate and that of the other 10 people that hate twinks and constantly post about it here is all about your idea that it is wrong that any level below 80 should be able to do as much damage as a level 80. That is just not the way this game is now or ever has been in the last 20 years. I personally think it would suck if when you queued for a tw dungeon you had to pray that a level 80 will be in the group to carry all the lower levels.

Ask yourself this question.
WHY DO BLIZZARD ALLOW EXPERIENCE TO BE TURNED OFF?
Answer that question and you’ll be much happier.
It is the ABUSE of the systems they have in place.
Per the TOS:
Engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating.*
It is not abuse of anything, get off that soapbox
It’s a game with millions of players. People are gonna play differently. Get use to it and you’ll be happier.
Experience off by Blizzard is an option for a reason.

Engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating.
By your definition, a violation of ToS is anyone who has better gear than you now has an unfair advantage… if you’re in LFR gear and someone else is in Heroic gear… HEY, THEY HAVE AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE, BLIZZARD, BAN THAT PERSON!
How is that ABUSE if it’s allowed by the game designer?
So world first mythic raiders are abusing the game by only choosing gamers to be in their guild which causes an unfair advantage over those that never clears a mythic raid?
You’re not making sense. Go play a single player game if it’s all about your feelings.
lol, yes, there should be no gear so that we can all be the same!
People would find fault in that as well.
No win situation or no pleasing everyone, pick and choose solution.
I bet people would still complain even with no gear because some people will die to fire.

I bet people would still complain even with no gear because some people will die to fire
Hey! They didn’t stand in fire and are still alive! THE PEOPLE THAT DON’T STAND IN FIRE HAVE AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE… BLIZZARD, BAN THEM!
If you KNOW so much about it, then do tell there super flash trash talker on your alt… The macro in question isn’t a basic macro, and there were 4 steps required to make it work via zoning and crap… but you know it all right. You’re so crafty with your cute winter boots.

On your many comments of the last 20 years. I have had level 10 twinks for all 20 years and they have always scaled in the same fashion. This is not a new thing.
This is a NEW thing for timewalking. Prior to TWW you could not enter a timewalking dungeon until I “think” level 35.

You are missing the point here:
- At level 80 to get credit for the weekly timewalking quest you must damage the final boss of the dungeon.
- At level 80 to get credit towards your vault you must kill the required number of bosses in each dungeon. Dungeons have either 3 or 4 mandatory bosses you must kill and sometimes there are bonus bosses that play no part on weekly quests or the vault.
Now the issues:
A. Room lockouts. The tank twink abuses their “god-mod” status and runs straight to the boss. The result: Grouped players are locked out of the boss fight (they can’t keep up. Especially when all the skipped mobs are aggroing on them). Room lock-out prevents you from damaging the bosses. See 1 & 2 above.
B. Skipping bosses. Twinks are only concerned with the final boss because completing the dungeon rewards the most experience (Remember tank twinks have their experience turned off) for the OTHER player(s) they are leveling. Then they can instantly queue (because tank/mistweaver heal). Rinse repeat. See 1 and 2 above.
C. Playing the game and getting to play your character. This might seem like a stretch for some reading but players (myself included) enjoy playing the character even if the content is timewalking or heroic dungeon level. (sometimes called, chore content or free content).
