"Letting the meta develop organically"

What does that even mean??

It means they’re not going to make any changes, so if you class is a dumpster you’ll just have to deal with it for the next 6 months.

It’s a nice way of saying, “piss off”.

Hey guys, blizzard here

Our dev teams have no idea how to fix the game and make it the way it was back in wrath / mop / wod…

So we’re just gonna have the players help us develop pvp organically. but we wont actually listen. huehue

It means they’re giving time for disc priest player to git gud.

it means you better have alts… cuz if ur current spec sucks, oh well, they still have your subscription coming. So, they aren’t going to fix anything.

It means you have 4 mage alts, so when your other class is bad, you have something to q on

…wait.

LMFAOOOO

Where is this from ?

It means that they are letting the meta change on its own, instead of getting too directly involved.

For example: Prior to CoS and Oppulence, the meta was absolutely spellcleave dominated. Melee were pretty much out of the running, with maybe the exception of Unholy. (Due to Unholy’s inherent strength versus casters.)

Because of this, melee classes started looking for alternate means of participating, and so found that with Diamond-Laced Refracting Prism. With this new trinket, melee could suddenly start competing again, thanks to their higher survival.

When CoS came out, they just nerfed everything for PvP, so that when you got all of the gear, you would be roughly on the level of what the Prism gave, pre-nerf, so that melee wouldn’t get insane.

I think they are happy that the community found their own work around, however unorthodox, and wish to continue that trend.

It essentially means:

“We don’t know what will over or underperform until we see players develop the metas on their own. Meaning players who made the right choice on the character select screen will get all the goodies”

“Better luck next season to everyone else, though.”

“we fired everyone associated with PvP tuning and development”

I don’t think anyone (other than Ion possibly) would think raiding for PvE gear counts as a “work around” for the PvP meta.

If people were adapting to and overcoming obstacles with the current meta due to improved strategies, different talent setups, different comps, etc. then that would 100% be fine. Obviously that’s not what is happening though.

Also it doesn’t even entirely work. Like what gear are Hunters and Ferals getting that will make them good? Also that gear apparently isn’t even available for the tournaments so no chance for that meta to develop.

I mean it’s not really hard to get the gear. Oppulence is an easy fight, and CoS is only a two boss raid. Those three bosses drop everything that you need. And you don’t need to do the bosses on Mythic. Even a Raid Finder Prism is an alright start, for example.

I’m not saying it’s an ideal solution, but I’d prefer it solve the spellcleave meta, rather than for casters to run rampant again.

Ranged Hunters are kinda screwed yeah, but Survival can at least get the Trident. As for Ferals, they can get almost everything.

nailed it.

It means we are not valued customers

Holy cow stop it…

Stop what? Giving feedback? You’re ok with what’s happened to retail?
