Lets talk Immortal, Naxx mounts and Phase 2

Some background information: In retail we all know that Blizzard decided to remove the Meta mounts once Ulduar was released. The original reasoning was to have a PvE mount that hard core and time limited as the gladiator mounts. This didn’t sit well with many in the community and Blizzard decided to not remove the Ulduar mounts when ToC released. Currently in retail the Plagued Proto-Drake has been added to the BMAH and regularly sells for the gold cap. Black Proto-Drake is still nowhere to be seen.

Phase 2 will be coming much sooner than it did in retail. This gives guilds and players far less time to complete their meta achievements in time. Assuming that the Drakes are to be removed that means we realistically have two or three months. After that many players will sadly be SoL.

What do you think is the best solution to this predicament? You do not have too agree with my suggestion. I just wish Blizzard would tell us. My suggestions:

  1. Keep the drakes in the game. Enough said. It is what Jesus would do. I honestly think this is the best option for most players. It is also the current philosophy of all meta mounts in retail. “Go back to retail then!” - Well then add them back into retail!

  2. Adjust Immortal and/or remove it from the meta as a separate achievement.
    a. Immortal is toxic. There is no doubt about that. Having to rely on other players during a limited time event with only one attempt per week isn’t my idea of fun. This isn’t even considering INTERNET DISCONNECTS and BUGS. Also there is the panic and anxiety that revolves around being the person who spoils it for everyone else. Remember, this is a game!
    b. Replacement for Immortal: Perhaps instead of raid wide deaths per boss it is based on individual player activity. If I die during one encounter only I am denied the achievement. Immortal still fails for everyone else however but at least it isn’t part of the meta.

  3. Gear checks. Keeps the achievements hard so players will have to remain at ilevel 226 if they want to complete them. Might be harder to implement and police within raids honestly but I bet a addon could be made for that.
    a. A secondary option to to have a Heroic and Mythic version that must be completed.

I am sure a lot of people who would strongly disagree and honestly I do not understand that type of position. I really do not care what other people get or do not get in the game. But you are still entitled to your opinion.

Immortal? Like Diablo Immortal?
What, you guys don’t have PHONES?

Better get use to time limited events. 1hr to do Algalon in Ulduar, limited attempts on ToC, limited attempts on Arthas.

It was a common theme throughout Wrath

Great post OP, I’m not particular about one way or the other, I just wish we knew what is going to happen come phase 2.

i’d guess what will blizzard do, once new phase arrive blizzard will remove all previous phases mounts from game to put them for sale on the store

they get to earn money and players get to be happy! it’s GG

Alternatively, have an object that forces everyone’s ilvl down to this point. Would be easier to prevent people from trolling. I just think they should keep it in Wrath forever, even if Wrath goes Era (let people get it no matter when or how “late” they start.) I think games that rely on things only being around for a little bit are the least welcoming to new players.

Game is also 1000x easier than when we played back on retail. I got 10man undying on an alt with a pug group, and we weren’t even trying. If you dont have the mounts by the time they are removed, you dont deserve them.

Says you. A lot of people who played wrath are adults with kids and careers. I would be lucky to put in half the time I use to have when I had no responsibilities and lots of pot. I dont think we should cater to no lifers.

Most people raid log after their 3 hour raid days. Your “no lifer” argument falls flat on its face.

Yah boosters maybe. But i seriously doubt there are enough people who have access to these so called super elitists guilds.

besides why do you care?

I care because these mounts were designed to be time sensitive. Nothing it stoping you from joining these “super elite guilds” that somehow are required for achievements that pugs are getting while playing blindfolded.

Blizzard went back on that in retail. So prove that these are now invented to be time sensitive?

Oh did they now?

Show me in the patch notes where the black/plague drake gained through achievements we re-added. I’ll wait

While your at it, show me where they also went back on CMmodes for MoP/WoD, and mage tower rewards for Legion. How about Shadowlands keystone mounts?

I want to say there’s a reason why you’re so for not having them removed, and I was right

Not sure what point you are trying to make. They readded them yes?

Mage Tower mounts were never meta mounts. So that argument isnt going to work.

Finally, linking my logs? I just hit 80 recently and did one raid, what do you expect? It really just points out your elitist narcissism and strengthening the my points even more. I hope blizzard isn’t listening to your kind.

No, they didnt. Where are you getting this BS from?

Just pointing out that you actively avoid putting in effort in this game, and deserve nothing.

In beta the drakes were gone, blizzard added them at some point later.

I just hit 80 a week ago, how many times do you think i can run Naxx in that period? I got most raids in except OS10

I’d be okay with them just always being available.

Some of those achievements are easy to screw up even if your in ICC gear, by one person being dumb…

You’re going by what you saw …because of when they finally got around to adding them in beta for testing…

Doesn’t matter since players are way better nowadays.
