Let's talk about centaurs

Centaurs.
A really beautiful race for some, but strange for others.

I am a Sagittarius, I was born in the beginning of December. I always liked the image of a centaur with a bow.

So I would make a centaur hunter. It would be the perfect fantasy.

So, here is my idea for WoW :

About equipment :

In the past (we have the classic now, you can take a look) there were a few more slots for certain classes, such as certain relics, or bows for warriors, etc …

Centaurs would not have a slot for feet equipment, but 4 slots for anklets / horseshoes.
The cloaks / legs would also be different, counting as back armor.

Old mogs would have pieces for head - shoulders - chest - hands - weapons - … and there would be new items after this update (like glaives for DH) for the back and feet with the necessary attributes that cover the stats that other classes have with more armor.

Example - a normal race has the cloak, legs, feet.
Centaurs would have Armor for the lower back, ankles or horseshoes. The back part would be equivalent to cloak and legs in terms of stats.

In the end, blizzard would only have to change the character equipment window a little bit, to have an ankle slot and a slot for the back, being just a visual thing.

I think it is possible, it is not absurd and it would bring something innovative and unique to the game.

It would also be a great opportunity for blizzard to improve the character’s equipment screen, without the need for ADDONs to better show that window.

The racials of the centaurs could be :

Natural riding: When concentrating, run at the speed of a horse = 100% speed on the ground.

Cenarius buff: pegasus wings - 310% flight. Enchanted wings would appear on the centaur’s back and he would fly like a pegasus - it could be a customization option for wings of fire, ice, white, black, stellar, etc …

Unbeatable breath: walking speed increased by 5%.

Customizations could be :

Centaurs with almost humanized faces - please do not do anything monstrous.

Colors varying from - top: all that humans normally have - bottom: treat like normal horses, having whites, browns, blacks, grays, etc …

Main hair: ponytails, pointed, large to the waist, etc …

Further customization: scars on the body.

And finally: History

The story would be simple.

Centaurs and Tauren have always been natural enemies. However with the new threat falling on Azeroth, Baine decided to reunite with a distinct race of centaurs, who were also at war with other races of centaurs.

After a long conversation, a treaty between this large group of centaurs and the tauren came into force: no war between them and collaboration on the front against the new threat, over the horde’s banner.

After an intense fight on Mount Hyjal, cenarius noted that these centaurs were great warriors, and decided to give them an asset for air strikes: pegasus wings.

Thus, these centaurs began to serve the horde and proved to be allies of extreme importance in times of trouble.

I believe that this covers most of the lore and equipment, and it may be possible to have this great addition in the game.

I can’t imagine ever playing a race that can’t use any of the mounts I collected.

Cool design concept man. You do have a lot of creativity and I’m happy you’ve shared that with us.

Reminds me a bit of my desire to have dryads once.

Wouldn’t be so bad if you go in expecting it. I mean honestly you more or less sign up for the same thing when you play a druid, as there’s little point for them to use a mount at all.

Personally, I’ve always liked the idea of them doing a quadraped playable race pairing and giving centaurs to the Horde and Cenarions (Keepers/dryads) to Alliance. I’d play a dryad in a heartbeat and I think the centaur culture and aesthetic is really cool and it’s a shame they haven’t done anything with it in basically 15 years.

And the lore could be almost the same (the cenarius thing).
Equipments should work like i said too.

That would be really cool for alliance.

Which is why it’ll never happen

like i said :

but strange for others.

xD

I give this idea 4 hooves up… :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

I’d probably not play one cuz I like collecting mounts

Buuuut, I’m also 100% for adding more races (not just reskins) so yea why not

I had an idea a little while ago that would allow centaur to use most, if not all mounts.

Simply change how they interact with the mount. Instead of sitting on it have the centaur ride in a chariot being pulled by the mount. And for flying you could use the centaur’s affinity for elemental storm magic and make it so the chariot rides on a thunder cloud instead of wheels., therefore allowing it to fly as it’s pulled by the mount.

You are overthinking this. Just have the centaur use all the same slots as a normal character. Display everything from the waist up as normal, display the foot slot item on all four feet the same way tauren and draenei do and simply don’t display the pants like Mechagnomes don’t display gloves, boots and wrists.

But it’s for the fantasy, dude. If blizzard go in this way, that would be awesome.
BUT your way works well too.

Although I prefer my mounts, I wouldn’t be against this.
They would seriously need to clean up the appearances though, the NPCs in game all look pretty bad to me.

Where do you put the centaur undies

horses have undies ? O.o

As a player controlled model, they have to undies or they’re just slanging genitals openly.

You do know the RP community requires genital clarification for what they play right? It’s like the whole point of RPing.

Look at this :

This is amazing.

think about a fury warrior

You’ve seen the threads around here lately haven’t you?

All anyone wants to do is mix and mingle naughty places here. The most replied threads are exactly about this. Gotta cater to your audience here.

I appreciate the myth of the centaur, but the biologist in me sees it as more symbolic than an actual thing. Six limbs arranged that way makes little sense unless you’re a bug. I love greek mythology as much as any other, but their drawings occasionally look strange to me. Not as strange as oldschool sumerian maybe, but up there.
