Let's not forget right-click report

You’re doing that willful ignorance thing again.
Squelch does not equate to a ban.

That’s a ban from chat…

Which is exactly the system folks are having issues with.

I stand corrected.
I honestly thought the system was manual and not automated beyond the auto ignore

Just remove auto-squelch, it’s stupid and is bound to be exploited.

I’m fine with it and hope it stays in. I don’t have a penchant to run my mouth in game. As for the squelch, originally it was designed to stop gold selling spam (which I think we are gonna see a resurgence in Classic). As for “potential” abuse, Blizzard does punish those who abuse the report system. I have seen it done.

Nope, live with the results of :poop:ing up public channels.

Still getting used to this horrible forum interface…anyway

What are you talking about?

If you treat the chat channels like a personal toliet, expect to be squelched.

Oh, I’m fine with that. I’m talking about the exploit part, when someone reports you just because he doesn’t like you or other invalid reasons. These are for the ignore function.

Well technically the squelch acts as the septic system, as it removes the :poop: from the water.

That is called abusing the system, and should/would be punished for doing. Also you cannot solo squelch someone.

There is no “exploit”. Like I said before, Blizzard is pretty good at suspending those that abuse the reporting system as they have done it before.

this.

I have heard these same arguments before when the system when active on live. They didn’t pan out.

It’s all good then. I just don’t want this system to be abused.

Oh, It’s gonna be abused, but not with out consequences for those that file false reports.

Yes please do something like this with it to balance the happiness of customer base using this forum and the possible customer base somewhere who want to punish a dirty talker further than just ignoring them.

The “bad habits” on private servers directly carried over from wow.
Those “habits” existed before pservers and will exist again.

Nah, you couldn’t name your character in retail what I bet they named theirs on those servers. I can only imagine the racist, homophobic, abusive etc… conversations that were allowed to happen in public channels.

Would have been nipped in the bud in Blizzard Vanilla.

Private servers bred terrible habits, both is behavior (I imagine) and for sure in making people think those trash servers are examples of authentic Vanilla.

Most all these complaining posts and the like are spewed out of Private Server proponents.

Well, I won’t be going anywhere near it if it has it, so…

And, I’m sure that its a ‘feature’ that will singlehandedly keep private servers flourishing.

God, I hope.

If right click report filters those types of people out of Classic and back to hunting for w/e stolen property they can freely play, BEFORE Classic even starts?

It would have worked FAR better than the developers or Classic enthusiasts could have ever hoped lol.
