Let's not forget about private servers and why no one was playing TBC or Wrath over Classic

Both of the expansions were available, just the same as Classic, yet very little people played them.

Why are the less than 1% on the forums here so adamant about playing an expansion for 1 week then quitting?

Instead of giving blizzard an easy out, make them put in work and create something new (Classic+). You are feeding them information based on nostalgia, TBC was a "cash out* expansion to revive a dying game at the time.

Let’s not support a revival of expansion wipes, we that in Retail.

Won’t it be wonderful to have an xpac that hasn’t been strip mined to death by IP pirates?

? Wotlk is one of the most popular pserver modes lol. There are actually dozens of them floating around with new fresh ones coming out every cycle. TBC gained immense popularity once blizzard’s classic came out, there are at least 4-5 pservers running tbc right now.

Sorry, but this is an utter lie.

No one played on TBC servers because they were all scripted like garbage. Pretty much everyone agrees that TBC was better than Vanilla.

“I dont like TBC and the private server scene for TBC was smaller so that means classic TBC shouldnt be released. How dare we let others enjoy TBC”.

The anti-BC crowd is sorta reminding me of the old anti-Classic people, just this time there’s no wall of no.

I doubt that the majority of the Classic playerbase played private servers. There certainly is a large representation of private server players, but I suspect that vast majority are real WoW fans who have been playing through most expansions.

Of course, there are also those who came back for Classic.

Private server players may have been playing private servers because they were free, had modified/different coding and structure, or a variety of other reasons that include being OK with pirating software.

Wrath was nearly as popular as vanilla private servers, I wouldn’t say no one.

Eh most of us who played pservers moved over to blizzard’s servers when they launched. I did play nost, LH, and kronos because they were the only option to play classic. Now that blizz has an official option I’ve never looked back.

That’s exactly how they are acting. Everyone can have opinions, but advocating for and wanting to deny others the chance to have classic TBC is childish lol. Either way, it looks like we’re getting TBC

Indeed. I’m honestly pumped. Not just because of this but also because it’s very likely we’ll get Wrath too.

Play which WoW you want when you want without having to find a pserver, sounds amazing to me.

that’s the dream!!!

Sure. That isn’t to say that most of the Classic playerbase is from private servers though, even if most private server players play Classic.

Makes sense if you really enjoy Vanilla/Classic. Personally, I’m happy to play through Classic, but it’s not the height of WoW, in my opinion. There are things in current Retail that I also enjoy, but BFA is more or less my least favorite expansion to date.

Sorry I didn’t realize gaining subs everyday and turning into the #1 MMO before BC even hit was considered a dying game.

I wouldn’t be completely surprised if they end up launching all expansions at some point. Some may obviously be more popular than others, but having the option to play through them (esp. if there ends up being an upgrade/transfer path) could be quite interesting.

I can imagine progressing through each expansion as a guild group to experience it together. Especially for those who never had the chance to play them when they were current.

Me neither, and I’m actually glad they are doing these surveys. It lets them engage interest.

Hell, even if people want to play BfA again, maybe they’ll have that luxury some day. I know I won’t bother, but I’d be fine with it being out there.

I would play the hell out of TBC. There is so much I haven’t done. Bring it on! Also I don’t trust any new content, classic plus? Did you see what they did to retail? Retail isnt bad, if your a new player, but as a vet I’m disgusted.

This is an excellent and underrated point

I’ve heard this too, that the complaints were more about the servers themselves than the Tbc content
