Is there any way we can come to an agreement of what constitutes “causal” from a baseline??
Everyone has their own definition. And not very many of them line up very well. Some base it on time played. Some base it on non-instanced content. Some say M5. Some say M9. Some say “I’m casual and I have a 226 ilvl”. And there are so many attacks on “casuals” at this point it feels like if your not pushing 20+ or downing mythic raids then your considered a casual.
I would just like to be able to defend myself, as a self-defined casual, appropriately. And that’s hard to do when nobody even knows what a casual really is. I have come to call myself a “world player” or a “soloish player” or, probably the most accurate, “non-mythic/raid” player.
It’s a weird flexible label that changes every single time to fit a different narrative. At this point, it’s an utterly useless term, because everyone sees ‘casual’ as different.
I’m as casual as they come, working 70 hours a week, and raising a family, and I achieved ilvl 226 no problem. Casuals just seem to be bad, entitled players who don’t want to put the work in. No, you don’t deserve welfare epics or anything else if you won’t work for it.
Casual used to be commonly accepted to be mean somebody who didn’t have much time to play but that seems to have changed, from what I’ve been able to see on the forums there’s 3 types of casuals:
i probably fit the definition of a casual.
I did my covenant campaign on some alt, do LFR with them to get some upgrade/farm transmog and as a self imposed ‘‘challenge’’ i decided to try and break out a little out of my casual cocoon and did normal raiding a little. And that it, i mostly ignore mythic+ entirely (beside some run with friends to help them)
