Lets compare league of legends casters to wow

Let me quickly compare the competent league of legends casters compared to wow in tournaments.

In wow no matter how bad the state of the game is or the meta, wow casters white knight it and never mention anything regarding the poor state of the game.

In league the casters actually ( Have freedom of speech ) and they say whatever they want, and can actually point their finger at the devs who are responsible for not doing their job. Just a thought i wanted to share.

I’m having PTSD guys, he mentioned the forbidden game. I’ve programmed my computer to self-destruct if LoL.exe is ever downloaded.

When did that change lol I remember they’d sit there and watch the exact same champs get picked/banned 100% of the time while trying to pretend it’s no big deal

From what a little birdie told me;

You literally can’t say anything bad about any Blizz game if you’re a face of it or a commentator for it. I believe this doesn’t extend only to SC2, but that’s because I believe the casters for SC2 are also contracted with ESL.

I would definently love to hear a lot more trash talk about the game from casters, would make it more interesting to watch lol

As for League, they’re pretty much a FFA as long as they don’t swear or insult. Their personalities make the esports scene there.

i’m watching super tame complaints/negative feedback getting banned by the awc chat mods. pretty embarrassing

No negativity in the dojo.

Or the reputation gets it.

No bad mouthing the game or you get Bobby’d.

Why even compare, league is x100000000 times bigger than wow pvp.

To be fair, Azael was also the best caster WoW arena has ever seen before he left.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard league casters directly criticize devs for X broken champion, at least not at LCS/worlds/big tournaments. They normally say X is auto pick/ban or X is extremely strong atm, which is something that WoW casters also say.

As for the casters themselves, I think they are doing pretty well with what they are given. They have to cast from their rooms/offices with limited venue support on a much smaller scale. It’s hard to directly casting quality given the settings and scales.

I don’t think he’s talking about spell casters partner

While they don’t openly say things like they did a bad job of balancing specs, they have frequently commented how like 90% of the teams are playing outlaw/fire mage/hpriest. And have frequently discussed just how unkillable they are. Honestly I couldn’t ask/expect more from the casters this is a job for them and they do a pretty outstanding job. I would actually find it offputting if they frequently sounded like disgruntled pvp fans. I’m sure theres many things all of us want fixed and its been frustrating how slow the balance changes come in. But you shouldn’t pin it on them to be openly criticizing the game while they are supposed to be promoting the game and making the tournament fun to watch.

Promoting a tournament that is basically RMP vs rmp vs rmp vs rmP :

I’m not saying fans shouldn’t be upset that its just rmp, i’m saying your rage should be directed at the developers rather than the casters

Obviously? No one is raging at the casters

This entire thread is a criticism of the casting. Its a bit unclear if its just towards their particular freedom to criticize the balance of the game or whether or not they chose to criticize it. They were described as white knighting it for blizzard. My point is whether or not its their choice not to blatantly call it out, or are just not allowed too, its 100% the right decision. They should just be trying to make the tournament as watchable as possible despite the horrible balance. People will immediately turn it off if even the casters appear disinterested. Even though the balance is crap I still love this game and haven’t found anything else that comes close to it. Would be a shame to turn more people away with negative casting.

The thread is unnecessary commentary, but it is clear the target is the casters’ ability to criticize what they’re casting.

Criticising WoW as a Blizzard employee earns you a one way trip to the Cosby room.
