- And actually have these people actioned.
Even if you have them off, it’s still aggravating to get a PM about how someone likes this thing you do and they’re totally amazing-awesome people just like you. Something needs to be done to dissuade this behavior.

Negative on that, though I think it’d be great to be able to “ignore” entire guilds.

There’s one-guild only spamming invites named, and Mods, don’t ban me over this, “Gay Furry,” and because they add no message, you just get a notification and can do nothing.
Yeah, I don’t know. I mean, on one hand, I completely agree with you and understand your pain. On the other, I just don’t have a great answer as to how to fix the issue.
Maybe Blizzard can have a hidden counter for the number of times you’ve been ignored by people you haven’t been associated with? This would hypothetically track the number of random people you might spam messages to, and if you get blocked enough times, and spam enough messages, you might get squelched, or something?
Not sure if this would be a feature that I would use, but I can see its use.
This is why I turn the guild invites off and only turn it on after I have spoken to someone.
Also might be worth trying, creating a doc with a quick C&P reply of something like, “Hey, thanks for the thought but i’m not interested. Please let your guild know that I’m not interested as well. Thank you.”
That seems to have worked rather well in my experiences without any issues.

I kinda like getting random invites from guilds. I dont actively look for one, so its nice to get the bonuses, and if they people in the guild suck, i just dont pay attention to them. Of course, im not a big end game, must raid, must m+ person, so it may be different for me. If a guild im in talks and are cool, great, if not, ehh whatever.
I’d rather report them as harassment.
If I don’t know you, then contacting me out of the blue to beg me to join your guild is harassment. Plain and simple.
If I wanted to join your guild, then I would pull up the guild finder and find your guild.

Technically, it’s soliciting.
So if someone has a problem with a player they can get their 300 member guild to ignore that player and silence them. Very cool idea.
Make a guild that only consists of your toons. I’m not sure if they are using a bot or a add on to track or trace people who are not in guilds. A long time ago when I had a alt I kept getting different invites and spam whisper invites. It was a bank toon I didn’t want in a guild, but once I created a bank guild it stopped. Just, me, myself and I guild.

I’d like an option in the social tab that makes it so people who aren’t on your friends list can’t whisper you.

You realize theres a feature to auto-block all guild invites right?
Why do people want to punish those who they can voluntarily block/ignore? Is there something more than wanting to get rid of the annoyance that’s not specifically stated by these types of people?

Another option would be to add “accept guild invites from friends only” so you only see guild invites from characters or bnet tags on your friends list.

Last time I got one of those invites with the whisper, I responded, oh, you like that I stand in fire, don’t listen, and am AFK for 90% of the raid.
They love to bother my alts. Glad we can admit them into guild without other people.
I don’t have a great answer as to how to fix the issue.
I believe I stated that, very clearly, before I made my suggestion.
Besides, my suggestion can work, and your complaint ALREADY exists in game. You could get your guild to mass flag a person for the same result.
There’s a solution in the game already. Turn off guild invites and… And this is gonna be a tough one for some people… Just ignore it.

Personally as someone who is currently recruiting I think a better way to handle this would be to update the Guild app and search UI so that people can actually apply for themselves and what not so that guilds don’t “have” to go out into open world and recruit that way, as is you have to shout in open world (if you want to be polite about it) and wait for a few interested parties to say “sure why not” or invite random people who aren’t in a guild and see how they react. Part of this hassle is that guild participation is just plain declining even in guilds with lots of members. Maybe a designated recruiting building here and there as well?

So, how does this help new players?
Edit: I would love for you to type faster.
What? New players can’t ignore things they don’t like? Are new players babies that need to be coddled by mama and papa?
Not my point.
New players can be abused.
This is all hypothetical anyways. Not sure why you have a hard high one for my post, it was just a suggestion, which I prefaced with “I don’t know”. Yet, here you are, crying, and thrashing about.
