All of the other threads talking about Warrior DPS issues and the experiences of the players complaining speak for themselves, but there are other challenges facing the class right now that just shouldn’t be there.
Deep Wounds munching has been brought up many times before, and this is an issue that affects other classes such as Mages on a regular basis. I think Blizzard has commented on this issue and said that it “cannot” be fixed? Obviously this isn’t true and actually means, “We don’t want to write the code to fix this.”
Spellqueue bug makes Fury a mildly frustrating spec to play. You want Heroic Strike queue’d as much as possible, but having Heroic Strike queue’d makes every other ability impossible to buffer through the spellqueue system… Wonderfully intuitive gameplay. I shouldn’t have to have a /stopcasting line in every ability macro just to make sure my abilities work, as it stands right now the average Fury is losing a good couple of hundred DPS purely as a result of faulty mechanics.
And don’t even get me started on Arms, the spec which is apparently enough of a PVP spec to not consider for PVE balancing, but is borderline mandatory for debuff coverage if you don’t happen to have a Combat Rogue. The dumbest thing about the state of Arms is that a balance buff is the easiest thing in the world to achieve; make Taste for Blood proc on every Rend tick, and make Slam scale with haste. Job done, Arms is now semi-competitive. No DPS class should have a negative interaction with haste, but that’s what Arms has since Slam’s cast time is always fixed at 0.5 seconds! I’m fairly certain that it’s a DPS loss to press Slam when fully hasted and standing inside a Hodir moonbeam, if you think that’s fine to have in the game then I can’t help you.
If the aforementioned Taste for Blood buff would be “ToO BiG fOr pVp” then just make it a glyph or something. The solutions are out there, this is just a matter of the devs not being interested in entertaining them. The point is, Warrior as an overall class is far overdue for a general bugfix, and the DPS rankings are only a small part of the whole.
