I think the GDKP community needs to make our voices loud and clear. WE WANT TO GDKP to optimize our free time and play with the players that are like minded and frankly a better hang then the MS/OS or SR moochers that have pervaded Classic. GDKP is the ONLY loot system the rewards EVERY player in the raid, while also holding the players that can’t carry their own weight accountable.
The ban is not about stopping bots, blizz relies on player feedback to enforce any “crackdown” of the botters. Let the GDKP community sort ourselves out before the player dwindles to just the broke players.
If someone loves WoW so much that they go and buy gold with their own money, what’s the beef? There are way more players that just play the game than those that contribute to the pot of which every raider in the group benefits.
The rest of youse out there that call the GDKP raiders cheaters couldn’t compete with us anyway, we did fine without y’all, so stop trying to play with us for free.
I think people’s biggest gripe, which they won’t admit, is that it makes them salty knowing other players make bank by being able to participate in the raids.
This narrative that GDKP takes the place of SR raids or traditional guilds is simply wrong, IMO.
@Bunglebank the beef with incentivizing people people to buy/sell gold and then launder that gold through those in the GDKP run by bidding on items. Is it directly inflates the economy, encourages botting, creates WoW multi-millionares, etc. Those people once they feel they have enough gold commonly then go and sell the excess gold from future GDKPs on 3rd party websites. Making real USD off of this whole cycle.
Think about it. Someone buying raid consumables is what like worst case 300 gold per week (in cata classic). But you have people dropping up to 3 million gold for individual items (15x classic gold cap even back during WOTLK).
What is going to draw RMT in WoW to a much more severe extent, 300 gold or 3 million gold.
Its not just about buying gold, you and others like you buy it for the advantage it brings gathering loot, which then allows you and others like you to earn more gold from the pools because you were able to snag good gear with your bids, which makes you perform better resulting in carries. Its an upfront investment setting you up for the rest of the season, allowing people like you to actually play wow for free (wow tokens).
What is the bar for carrying their own weight in this sense? Ability to dish out another 30 dollars for a chance at loot and then maybe they’ll perform to your standard correct?
I think this entire mindset is part of why it’s banned, quite frankly. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Go enjoy Whitemane with your likeminded folk who think profit is the only value of playing an MMO.
