Let us cross realm arena, dungeon and raid

There are no drawbacks to this, and would help people be ok with leaving mega servers. This doesn’t change any gameplay and instead makes the MMO more massive and gives the players more freedom to meet and play with others. Region wide AH would be great as well.

I want RDF.

People want to play with their friends, and have an active auction house. Just region wide the AH, and allow people to group with people in instanced content with people on other servers.

This solution will solve that problem full stop, allowing people to go to smaller servers to avoid queues while allowing them to play with their friends.

The only downside to this is blizzard loses a lot of transfer money.

No. Go to retail.

If you deliberately pretend they don’t exist there aren’t any drawbacks!

What are the draw backs? You have an ability to group with a bigger player pool?
An MMO is supposed to be an MMO

Is one of the draw backs that this constant cycle of dead/full servers and transfers all go away?

Because that would suck.

Hm hang on I may have misunderstood the OP here. Is this not the regular “screw community give me convenience” thing? I don’t know much about the server structure these days.

They need to let us cross realm guild if they do this. They should allow all of it or none of it. and im personally for all of it as you said

Megaservers are like the size of entire playerbases of some games after all in and of themselves.

Yeah exactly region wide AH, and any instance content can be cross realm.

and cross realm guilds! this is important. we want to keep social interactions, allow people to guild and friend anyone they want to play with.

I should be able to meet you here on the forums run a few dungeons with you in game and invite you to my guild!

I could understand the server community arguement if there were way more servers and they had much much lower more realistic 2008 population caps but there arent, and they dont, so we have all of the drawbacks of servers with close to none of the benefits of small communities.

Based on this forums and the collective behavior shown by population trends on realms, it seems most Classic players want the convenience of having no queue, not too much competition for mobs or gathering nodes, but also a thriving AH and the ability to quickly form levelling dungeon groups mid-expansion when most of the population is taking a break or doing endgame content only.

Yet in other threads people are asking Blizzard to literally re-code all the game to allow this to happen via megaservers, rather than the existing retail solutions i.e. cross-realm content, connected realms. So in some way they don’t want either Classic or Retail.
