Probably with that and CoD there have been skins that give an actual in game bonus, or penalty. Like I know there’s some CoD skins that are extremely dark colored, or have transparent sections that can blend into shadows a lot more than other skins, especially non-paid ones. Last thing I’ve heard with fortnight there can be hitbox differences, like the chicken guy from family guy they added in recently has a bigger hitbox so it’s the whole Oddjob vs Jaws from goldeneye issue.
You seem to be missing something important.
You said:
while at the same YOU are dictating his choices. Why should you be able to dictate his immersion and make it less important than yours? I mean, you would not even know how he was seeing your character! You would have zero idea.
I’ll say it once last time - it would not be immersion-breaking because you - would - not - know.
Look, I have no personal investment in this issue per se, but I get a bit irked when people make a stand and say that they have a right to something which ousts someone else’s rights.
But… there aren’t?
I’m still confused what OP is talking about.
It’s kinda funny that there’s this much conversation about something that’s a client-side toggle that affects only the individual using it.
Like, I’m offending someone because I can’t see the ray-traced light bouncing off the plate armor because I have DLSS turned off or something.
Okay, say I am roleplaying with him. He brings up something I am wearing that is NOT what my mog is. This breaks my immersion in the rp and has to be sorted out. Just because you don’t get it does not mean that it isn’t there. I understand he has a choice about what he wants to see, but when he uses Rp realms to try to prop up his point he’s going to have to back up his point when it comes to rp scenarios like this. Because how characters dress and present themselves is Important in roleplay.
This bothered me in the past as well. And the constant jumping around in the cities… awful.
Just switch over to a RP-server, it’s a godsend. These people there usually follow the racial transmog limitations and it looks very immersive. Once you have been on a RP-server, you don’t want to go back.
I imagine there are role playing answers to any RP situation.
Daktyll: An unusual piece of armor, friend Demon Hunter, does its green coloring have personal meaning?
Ibuki: Ah, sir, you are seeing through the magic of my apparel. A pity you cannot see it in its true glory…
If you are ever in need of RP conversation, send me a note. I can write people out of most situations. In the tiny weeny chance that you will meet someone and actually a conversation about gear appearance who has the toggle off. Get creative, I say.
I don’t think this is a good idea. How someone dresses there character is kinda important to how they portray themselves. Its why folk pushed for a transmog system in the first place (Among a few other reasons).
Also thats a lot of work for a whole lot of nothing for the devs.
Though I’d love for an option for transmog to hide my pants and weapons. Don’t really get why those things aren’t hideable yet. Oh! Also letting all weapon types be transmoged over each other. Like Daggers… and Wands.
Yeah that’s…not something my character would ever go for. Someone claimed to see something my character wasn’t mogged to their response would likely be something along the lines of suggesting a mind healer. My characters don’t illusion their clothes. I get what you’re saying…but people have been blacklisted for far less in the RP community…something like this could be divisive for a lot of folks.
I’d settle for a button to turn off the yeti pajamas only. Dumbest mog in the entire game.
Please tell me, how awful is the US community when it comes to dramas? Do you have also something akin to an extreme right wing Forsaken infiltration group, who applied all for the position of GM, so they can control the RP-narrative of the server? Blacklisting on AD-EU is more of a whole group/guild-thing and the server is split in Pros and Antis.
I wish I could make this up, it sounds too insane.
I think this transmog alone should remove all armor restrictions for good.
The hilarious part of this is he’s using RP realms as part of his argument.
Maybe the community is different in the US. I cannot imagine it, I have only experience with the EU-scene. You cannot play on Draenor-EU (biggest regular Horde-server), I almost went mad on how many people jump constantly around everywhere. It’s a nonstop thing they do. I mean, in the beginning it’s cute and fun but after years it’s hard to grasp why people cannot stop jumping around. Before the portals, right next to important NPCs, it nearly felt like a torture trainings program at some point. I don’t expect for anyone to understand my frustration but this nearly took me out of enjoying the story… especially when it became dramatic and important.
I wish that was ALL we had on MG as far as drama goes. That could be dealt with by the community quickly. But in the course of my time on MG Since TBC I have seen:
A person set up a three guild conspiracy group against magic users cause a mage beat him in arenas, this rp ‘Plotline’ led to rl threats and stalking not just for players but an attempt to find information on Anduin’s voice actor.
A guy who tried to ‘create’ Christianity in Azeroth and when no one would go along with it he started making very dangerous accusations about RP Community leaders. That was back in TBC.
Someone who was trying to use Roleplay to start up a rl cult.
And back in WoD there was the people who would try to publicaly interact lewdly with Lore characters.
I can only imagine how bad everyone looks with the mismatched gear from the different expansions for the mythic+ pool.
Thinking about it gives me flashbacks to Questing in Hellfire Peninsula.
Good thing the game doesn’t revolve around what you want.
technically speaking. the client api doesnt allow you to change other peoples settings visually.
Oh, not trying to say there are any in wow. Just that that person is probably trying to use the outrage from the actual problematic skins in other games to artificially boost their argument.
Oh… I get ya now. Thanks for explaining!
