Let me turn transmog off - Settings request

I am aware what they are asking for. As I have said many times the only thing I am pointing out is that their argument of using Rp servers as a point is wrong because how a player presents their character is part of the immersion in rp. So if two people are seeing two different things it can create a break in immersion with rp if one player comments on something the other does not see. I’m not advocating for the OP to not get what they want. I am pointing out that it would create situations of conflict in rp servers.

But how does that argument work for people who are not participating in the RP?

It…doesn’t? The argument is specifically about RP Servers and RP experience… :dracthyr_shrug:

Then I don’t think it’s a great argument. RP is something that is (and should be) an explicit opt-in from all parties, and have no effect on anyone who does not decide to opt-in.

Yes…that’s how RP works. But again, I think there’s some kind of communication error here. Because I don’t get how this is an argument against what I am saying. Again I am not saying that the OP should not have the setting they want. So let me explain what I am saying point by point.

This option is introduced and people start using it, even some on RP servers.

Someone using this setting goes to rp with someone in stormwind, during the RP the user of this option makes a comment about the gear the other person is wearing in the rp.

The other person points out in ooc that this is not what their character is wearing. Leading to a break in immersion on both sides. Now either the RP continues or it stops due to this issue.

More and more Rps are broken off because people are using this setting. Leading to the community beginning to blacklist those who use this setting.

This leads to people complaining on the forums that they are being ostracized unfairly.

Creates transmog to show off to everyone

“LOOK AT THIS GREAT MOG!”

Setting is turned off on their screen
“You look awful.”

I don’t think it would be too hard to implement. We have something close to it in the game already. Whenever we quest with an NPC they show up differently to other players.

So your argument is that it shouldn’t be added BECAUSE people would use it? Assuming it gets implemented as a cvar (the most logical way to do so), this setting could be seen by TRP3, and have it show in profile to avoid that.

Dear gods do you READ? I said I am not saying that the setting the OP asked for shouldn’t be added. I have said that MULTIPLE Times. I am saying that it is not going to go as smoothly as the OP thinks it will. And using RP as an argument for it doesn’t make sense.

people get banned for using client side mods that do similar things. you mod the flag from wsg to be 40 foot tall, you can see them from across the field. its an unfair advantage. Blizzard will likely see this the same.

A toy that makes all other players appear to have a basic transmog wouldn’t be a horrible idea. A novelty for sure, but not terrible.

So for those who are against a client side transmog switch, are you also against the ignore feature?

Would be hypocritical if not, but I do see a lot of hypocrites on GD.

I say combine the two; if you want to ignore the player’s transmog, you have to /ignore the player.

NONISSUE. You need to go play a single player game. Bye bye.

i played in eu during legion/bfa & the community is largely the same as na.

only difference is instead of russians, its chinese/south americans.

I don’t see why it would need to be personal.

Uh huh…sure.

scroll up to your previous post if you dont believe me, you literally proved my point.

They made a toy for this,

https://www.wowhead.com/item=210974/eyes-for-you-only

Now you can turn off all transmog and only have to see mounts and hearts.

Well aren’t you just a stud UwU
