Let me turn transmog off - Settings request

The main reason for not introducing transmog for so long was because it would supposedly effect PvP. Maybe add a “No transmog for PvP” setting that can be checked in the options?

No. It’s not for you to say how someone else presents their character in game. That’s like you wanting everyone IRL to stop wearing mini skirts or some other ludicrous request.

And really, your request would hold more weight (though still not enough to count as “reasonable”) were you not transmogging your own gear. Just sayin’.

Basically, you want a client side setting where you can’t see other players outfits.

Like for example in FFXIV and SF6, where any cosmetic mods a player uses are seen by them and only them. On my screen in FFXIV, all the rabbit people have tails, but on everyone else’s screens they’re all tailless and weird. Eww.

And in SF6, my Juri is wearing custom sneakers on my screen, but no one else will ever know; despite my screen showing me kicking their faces in, dripped out in them classic J’s.

That’s basically what you’re asking for, right?

I see no real reason why that is a bad suggestion, on its face. Unfortunately for you, it might be too much of a PITA for Blizz to bother with.

But you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, so you should probably post this in the suggestion forums anyway. And make it clear you mean CLIENT SIDE ONLY, so that you can avoid… all of this right here.

I mean i can use toys to cha ge your aparence in game only on my client side… like the beer gogkes that strips your character or the dog glasses etc. Why do you care about what i see in my game

I’m not sure this is an onion you want to peel.

I’m curious now if people think the profanity filter is an affront to their self-expression? Its altering how they present themselves without their consent or knowledge. …

hah! you gave me a chuckle there.

i mean, i get where your coming from if this is about seeing how strong someone is based on their armor, but do what i do: assume if they’re not wearing the current high-tier raid/pvp set, their character has ‘average’ strength (enough to hurt, but not enough to insta-kill).

if this is about wanting to see folks progress, and where they’ve leveled their character based on their armor (which DOES sound pretty neat) i’m sorry… that’s been out the window for years, what with heirlooms being a thing.

and if this is just so you can laugh at everyone’s mis-matching armor, blizz won’t do it. transmog covers-up their shoddy work.

My eyes my eyes are burning, what does thou dare to show before my greatness!?

Only if I get the option to turn everyone into Vulpera and apply whatever transmog I like to them.

Otherwise no.

There are some toys that would like to have a word with you about that…

While i think, personally, this request is dumb, whatever floats your boat I guess. You wanna see a bunch of closet throw up, that’s your problem

If I ran into you in game, and decided you needed to look like a corgi, I can already do that and you can’t stop me.

In said-quote I was talking about real-life comparison.
Pre-sure if you view everyone as Corgis IRL you should see a shrink … or start a podcast. :joy:

That being said, for in-game you do make a fair point.
— Albeit many ‘See players as X’ effects are either temporary or until Y item is removed. :person_shrugging:

I was only talking about in game, to try and point out that the IRL comparison isn’t really relevant here.

But even IRL, it’s only half true. You can control your physical image, but you cannot control the deductions other people make based on your image/actions.

How is this thread still going?

I think this is a great option! And like stated so so many times; it doesn’t affect anyone but the user.

Those who are opposed, I DO hope you are also vehemently against the toys that were brought up that changes the appearance of others, or the language filter currently in place.

All that is stifling your representation too, right?

This would be an interesting idea for a toy. Glasses of Untransmogrification - see players as they truly are for 5 minutes.

The issue is not the transmog system, but the “clowny” items added to it.

But we do have this issue with mounts since a long time as well, so many that just don´t fit the lore and look kind of marvel like or full on Anime.

Transmog was a mistake.

That’s the point I was ultimately making in my comment to correlate to in-game.

I mean i can use toys right now that alter other players identity on my client side whats the big deal
