They said they would remove sharding once the initial surge of players calms down. Well, how about as a community we don’t sub until the sharding is removed?
I know a lot of people don’t want it at all, so in the name of seeing the situation from the eyes of other players. I no longer want sharding at all. I was ok with it initially, but after watching the video’s of what sharding does, I’m on the other side now.
If I’m in a zone I want to see my friends in the zone without having to group up with them! I’ll wait until sharding is removed before I sub. I’m coming back to play with friends, and none of us are in a hurry as we plan to just relax and level and have a good time.
Thats actually a great idea... dont sub until sharding is gone.

That is a very adult thing to do.
I will be playing with sharding at launch, but I applaud you for sticking with what you want to do.
I do want sharding in the starting areas for a limited launch window in classic. I'd prefer to have a playable starting experience instead of a sea of level 1 toons all fighting for the same things, thanks.
You do you, man. :)

Yeah, I felt the same way. It doesn’t seem like sharding at launch would be a big deal, and if they stick to that statement I would be fine with it, but I also see the other point of view, and it would be fun to log in and see all the chaos of a brand new launch. I know all the resources would be gone and quests would be hard to complete for a bit, but I’m thinking that it might actually be fun to go through that again.
Really not a bad idea all your buddies can carry you then.............
Who am i kidding i wouldn't make it an hour past launch without begging blizzard to take my money.

I decided that yesterday as well.
Sharding in the 1-10 zones would make me want to quit which is what I did in Legion. I tend to stay in that area a long time to get my professions up to 50 and I create all my alts and get them up there as well and then park them at the inn for rested xp.
So I'm going to wait 2-3 weeks. Also gives time to see if sharding is beyond the 1-10 zone because the forum will blow up if it's on in the next leveling zones.

I’m could/will wait. I’ve waited this long.

Not a bad idea.
The fewer people that play at launch, the less sharding will be used, and the less that my wife & I have to deal with in questing.
Please, encourage all your friends that don't want sharding to do the same. We'll see you in Classic, after the initial zones have cleared out. :)

Haha, I applaud your honesty.
I am sure if sharding was not present, some people would be smart enough to not stay in the initial zone where it would be the most crowded. There would still be competition in these other areas, but any grinding is better than no grinding.

yes, sharding should give you that solo game experience you yearn for.

Definitely, this would solve the issues anyone has with sharding and help server loads. I know people are going to try and rush through Classic, but we are taking a different approach by socializing and enjoying our game time in Classic, so a delay of a few weeks is not going to hurt anyone.

Won't be solo. Will be leveling with my wife, and the other people that will be in the same shard as me.
But, I don't intend to group with anyone else in the starting zones. Especially if it's anyone from the forums... Not very nice people.
(Also, not wanting to fight hundreds of people for quest progress is not wanting a solo game. Nice hyperbole.)
I'm going to do the same, but I fear sharding won't just be in starting zones. Blizzard made similar promises in the past when sharding was initially introduced, promises that they didnt keep.

Northdale starting zones were flooded with players.
I think the only quest I didn't do in the dwarf/gnome starting area was "get the 3 items from the troll villages" cause the respawn was too long.
But I got to level 5 and got a few 6 slot bags from just killing trogs, wolves and boars in the 1-5 zone.
Then again..launch day to me is not all about "questing". There's so much more to it. I'm glad I got to experience a vanilla launch on modern hardware because it was so much smoother than what I recall in 2004.
I'd rather there be no sharding at all, but as long as it stops before the barrens or westfall I'd be okay with it.
Sharding is pretty much a necessary evil with the SHEER volume of players coming back for launch days now. Back in Vanilla's first day it was just over 100k players playing together but now it is millions and it's just not feasible for the servers as we saw during the Warlords of Draenor launch, where they gave us free game time because of the queues and massive server problems causing many people not to be able to play at all the entire launch weekend.
Without sharding, there will probably be hours of queues again with servers going down which will put us all back in queues again. You might not be able to play with your friends anyway depending on queue positions. I'd rather be able to play and not see EVERY single person than spending hours on log in screens being frustrated.
I totally understand people not wanting it and I do think that if it affects your experience that much that it is the best course of action to just start your journey when they remove it. We have waited so long for official Classic another week or two won't hurt.

I think someone doesn't understand how servers work. Reading this post has told me this much.
Enjoy server instability even with sharding because battle.net log-in servers are tanked

But didn't that happen with BFA launch ?
Sharding didn't save you.
The login servers aren't a part of sharding.
Wow this is brilliant. It shows blizz we don't need sharding and they won't even have to turn it on!
