Let Death Knights have more eye colors

Correct. She’s not a Death Knight. She’s never called a Death Knight anywhere in game, or in lore, and she has customizations that were specifically barred from Death Knights. Thank you for being reasonable, and understanding.

Lady Alistra is a Darkfallen death knight (https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Death_knight) located in Acherus: The Ebon Hold. During the death knight starting quests she is affiliated with the Scourge, but she later becomes a death knight trainer for the Knights of the Ebon Blade. She specializes in the unholy talent tree. She has a cold-hearted and malicious personality even after being freed from the Scourge, as evidenced by her merciless execution of the Cenarion Scout she picked out of the Realm of Shadows.

She. Is. A. Death. Knight.

Even if she has red eyes, she still served the lich king before the Ebon Blade was freed, she even has old DK abilities.

Notice the lack of in game, or lore source to the Death Knight part of the claim? I’ll keep pointing it out.

Nope. You still have no proof.

And this proves… what, exactly? Lots of undead served the Lich King in Acherus.

This has honestly been the oddest convo but that person is quite clearly ignoring things in favor of this weird argument they came out w

But thank you for re iterating the facts :hugs:

Which doesn’t say if she is or isn’t a death knight.

Just says she has red eyes and at present DKs do not.

Your only arguments she isn’t revolve around her having eyes DKs are unable to use and the concept that a Lich training the Frost DKs means she could possibly be something other than a DK herself.

Neither of which proves whether she is or isn’t.

Meanwhile, she does use death knight voice lines, wears their armor, claims their power as “ours” and with those she is training new death knights.

The Lich you use to claim trainers don’t need to be death knights does not share any of these qualities aside from training new death knights.

This leaves your only other evidence as her eye color not being available, yet plenty of other Death Knights use non standard eyes.

So why do you believe only one counterpoint to her being a death knight against multiple pointing to her being one?

Let my death knight have birds pecking out his eyes

Also Demon Hunters please. I know fel magic and whatnot, but I always end up xmogging Cursed Vision of Sargeras, because I don’t like any of the DH eye options.

They’re citing a page that makes an assumption for the argued point. There is no fact or source there. The actual fact is that Lady Alistra is not called a Death Knight in any form anywhere, and that she has a distinctive trait that Death Knights specifically don’t have.

This was a mess to read, but suffice to say, no, my argument is that she has absolutely zero lore anywhere, in game or otherwise, calling her a Death Knight, and thus doesn’t satisfy the baseline requirement of your argument that “she DK, gib red eyes.” You’re getting very hung up on the preemptive argument with Amal’thazad that you’re missing the basic point that she does not satisfy the entry point of your own argument.

She has been left without the Death Knight identification for going on fifteen years, making it highly unlikely that she is one, and her exact customization options were added for players but specifically not Death Knights. All the evidence is against you.

I see you didn’t read this post. Please do. There are not “plenty of other colors.”

Honey, I didn’t have a dog in this fight at first, but you’re really making a fool of yourself trying to claim that something that looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck isn’t a duck. The fact that Anthalaria just provided you with something indicating that this character is indeed a death knight and your response boiled down to “that doesn’t count” proves that you would prefer to posit your own reality than accept the one the rest of us live in. And it’s all in an attempt to restrict DKs from getting a long-requested feature when Blizzard writers have repeatedly shown that they’ll throw out or make amendments to established lore on a whim and would definitely let the art team add such options if there was enough demand for them.

It says right there that Alistra’s title is “Death Knight Trainer”, she dresses in DK starting armor, she has a DK voice, she uses Unholy spells, and she’s a member of the heroic DK faction, so clearly, she’s not a warrior or paladin. Who’s to say that Darkfallen and DKs are mutually exclusive in-universe? Arthas controlled both groups, a few san’layn could’ve trained to become DKs even if they weren’t raised specifically for that purpose since AFAIK the only real requirements to becoming a DK are not being alive and being able to swing a sword.

And as for the Darkfallen options not being available to DK players, that’s most likely less of a choice they wanted to make and more of a technical issue with the skin tones and eye colors being coupled together, as they were originally meant for NPC use and weren’t decoupled when they were given to players, and thus incompatible with DK eyes. Contrast the Night Warrior eyes, which were intended for players right off the bat and were decoupled from their skin tones with the barber update in 9.0. So there, DKs weren’t excluded for lore reasons, they were excluded because the Darkfallen options were just added by flipping a “false” to a “true” and calling it a day.

That poster also has provided nothing not a single lore statement or source to back up saying this NPC is just Darkfallen and not a DK

So you’re ignoring anything that doesn’t conform to your bias?

I accept she has little lore but there are plenty of things suggesting she may be and few enough to suggest otherwise.

She has death knight voice lines, death knight armor, claims death knight powers as “ours” and trains death knights. Apparently uses plague based magics as well.

Your argument falls short on so many levels.

So with all due respect. I think you need to reevaluate your use of this character as a reason for or against red eyes for death knights.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t think she’s needed to request red eyes at all. Red eyes would represent blood death knights.

Green unholy.
White And black domination magic.
Purple shadow.
Ember Crispy Boulevard.

They also tried to circle me back to a post in this very thread where they failed to answer any questions sufficiently as though that proved their point?

I don’t think they have anything more to add to the conversation. Nor do I think they have any particular reasoning for why they want to continue to restrict Death Knight eye colors beyond some weird misinterpretation of the lore and characters around the Death Knights.

Green and red would fit. We’ve already seen DKs with red eyes since Wrath so why not.

Yeeeeaaaaah, that annoyed me when I saw they were adding that. They are slowly taking away the uniqueness of each race purely for players to be able to play as something that makes no sense at all. You’d think they would take five seconds to explain them, but no.

And they wonder why nobody takes the stories they write seriously anymore.

Them using themselves as a source and it’s like just their subjective heavily biased opinion that’s contingent on ignoring what people have provided as proof is… a choice for sure

She looks like a Darkfallen. That was all but explicitly deemed unique, and separate to Death Knights when the customization was added. If she were a valid case, we would have the customization. Armor does not make the class, voice lines overlap, and trainers have been shown to not have to be the exact thing they’re training. These are the facts.

It’s a wiki page written by fans, and the part in contention is not sourced. Nothing in game, or in any lore calls Lady Alistra a Death Knight. I will say that as many times as it needs to be said. If I write up a page and call Garrosh a Mage, despite the complete lack of proof, I can’t just link that and say it counts. It doesn’t count. And neither does Lady Alistra.

Asking for the most basic proof to the claim is just that - basic. They cannot prove their claim. Their claim does not count. This is not my reality, it’s just reality.

Yes, a trainer of Death Knights. That does not automatically deem her one, again, per Amal’thazad.

Night Warrior eyes are actually a great example of a lore reason for different eye colors. But we don’t have any other such examples at the moment.

Do you have any evidence of this, or just supposition?

Except for the red eyes that only Darkfallen have? You can’t even prove your own claim.

Like I don’t mind the new things being added, but I’d really like some lore reasons for them where its pertinent. Though that is honestly mostly cause I am a Role Player. lol

i agree. specc colors would be cool

Only part of Darkfallen customization we don’t have available to death knights is… red eyes…

While she looks like a Darkfallen and probably is one, there isn’t anything saying a Darkfallen can’t be a death knight.

They are facts, but they don’t disprove her being a Death Knight.

What claim do you have to make that death knights can’t have other color of eyes?

Just that they don’t currently exist?

If thats so then please explain to me what the Purple eyes for Void or Blood Elves are for? Show me the specific lore point where they’re shown as a permanent concept that is attached to magic affecting the eyes of the Thalassian people.

While you’re at it make sure to take into account that Void Elves and Blood Elves have different purple eyes.

Amal’thazad however does not have most of the other points that suggest she is a death knight.

The Armor, voice lines, claiming the power as “ours”.

One point against is flimsy proof against several for.

Is it? Its barely explained why the Dark Moons effect on some Night Elves is strong enough to overwhelm the Lich King. Its actually so poorly explained that most people believe the Night Elves as a people went and did the Night Warrior ritual themselves rather than just having a passive effect changing their eyes when they’re under the Darkened Moon.

Kettle, Pot.

Where is it said that a Darkfallen cannot be a Death knight?

So anyway, the salient point is that there’s death knights with other eye colors in game and Ye Olde Magick effecting glows is one of the fantasy classics, so why not open that up to players?

At least a bit.

“assumption”
Alright, everything on wowpedia is officially an assumption, lore that blizzard made is an assumption.
Like, what? Do you even hear how silly you sound?

If it has death knight voice lines and hangs out with death knights, IT’S PROBABLY A DEATH KNIGHT.
